VMAX Prep and Tips?
My first VMAX next weekend as per seperate thread. For those that have been before, can you help/add anything here? I have already picked up a few points from reading on Piston Heads which seems to be the home of the VMAX event.
My planned prep:
Wash the car (less drag!)
Check oil/water
Check tyre pressures
Check wheel bolt torque
Visual inspection of tyres (repeated on arrival)
I don't carry much unecessary weight so I don't have much to take out hence probably won't bother.
Fuel. Can anyone who has been tell me how much they think advisable to have for the day without having to go and get more? Half tank, 3/4 tank, full tank?
Ideally starting every run with a quarter tank would be good but then that can't be done. The track isn't that long but how quick does the fuel dissapear after 7+ top (or near) speed runs?
As the F1 at Silverstone will force me to go a little out of my way to join the M1 to head north I will probably treat the car to one last drink of the BP102 fuel available in MK just to make sure I am not suffering from any retarded timing on the day.
Any other tips?
I have read on PH heads how the rolling start doesn't make a big difference (opposed to a dead start from the bottom of the straight). However I can't help but think in a lesser powered car that may well not reach it's absolute top speed in ~1.5 miles of acceleration space that the speed coming out of the bottom bend is crucial to a good high speed run.
Can anyone think of a some use for some VAGCOM logs while I have the chance to get some at some at the higher end of the speed scale? Otherwise I would probably rather not have the laptop rolling around!
Anyone been in either a stock B5 S4 or or just a stage 1/2 car before?
Graham
