Is anyone else travelling over this year?

I have never been before so if anyone has any advise on which campsite to stay on, where to buy tickets or any other useful information for a first timer please post.

I am going over in the S4, along with a friend in his GT40 replica and another in his MK1 Golf 20V. Should be a great weekend Would be good to meet up with some fellow RS246 members

Booked my ferry tickets last week. I'll be going in my RS with my mate on the Wednesday morning (13th June) and coming back on the Sunday evening.

We're going Dover Calais, it means a longer drive the other side, but that's a bonus. Last year we went Dover Dunkerque, which was 20 miles further than Calais, and paid £49 return for car and two passengers. This year’s tickets are with P & O and are £57.

Like last year, we'll be getting entrance & grandstand tickets and a camping pass from ebay a few weeks before the event. Yes, there is a small risk of being ripped off, but pay with Paypal and check feedback and you should be OK. It's getting tricky to get tickets direct from the ACO.

Last year we got tickets for Sommer 16 grandstand, which was pretty good as it was opposite the end of the pits and a giant screen. Maison Blanche grandstand, and campsite, is pretty popular with Brits.

We'll be going back to 'Houx' campsite this year, which is the only one where the pitches are reserved for you and has electricity (though take a mega-long extension reel as the power could be a long way away). The showers and toilets are clean on Houx, but the water is always cold. Make sure you tip the ladies who live outside the facilities if you think they do a good job at keeping things clean (they do!).

It's a fair old trek from camp-site to the pit area / tented village. To get about, the transport of choice is a petrol go-ped. I'll be taking one this year (also available for ebay for around £85, you can always sell it again after).

Take a BBQ, disposable or other, with you as last year we couldn't get one for love nor money.

Jarv - Many thanks for the information, theres some good advice there . So you reckon I am better off just booking the crossing and then waiting to purchase entrance tickets/camping on Ebay nearer the time? From what I have read Houx camping slots are quite hard to come by, are they available on Ebay and what sort of prices do they go for? There seems to be so much to take in for a newbie

I am by no means an expert, 2006 was my first year, but you learn a lot in a short space of time. I can't advise you which is the best thing for you to do, all I'm saying is that I'm going to leave it to the last minute (not literally) to get my camping pass and my entrance and grandstand tickets. To be fair, I think that you can get entrance tickets fairly cheaply when you get there, but I'm not prepared to leave it to chance.

Last year, I paid £165 for a Houx camping pass (that was probably a bit expensive, but I got a bit of ebay auction fever) and £89 for two grandstand and two entrance tickets. The tickets were an absolute bargain, IIRC the face value of the grandstand tickets alone were around 90 euros each, but the auction ended in the middle of the night and I got them using bidnapper.

I will most probably be there, some discussions amongst family members as we have a wedding to atend that would get in the way.

Not booked anything as yet, but will be buggered if I am going to miss it again this year. We travel down in an Austin Healey and the RS.

I think I will be going with a mate.... should be good fun. Certainly up for meeting a few of the guys off here

I'm getting sweaty palms, and there's still just under two months to go.

Anyone else decided to make the trip to LM07? Got hold of a couple of bargain brand new gopeds off ebay, so getting around this year should be fun (and dangerous).

I'm going and I'll be on the Thursday 7:20am chunnel crossing....with a group of around 25 I think.

Looks quite expensive to stay in the Audi camp-site, if you can get in there in the first place. I guess the facilities are good. Unlike the other sites, I don't believe you can pitch up as early as Wednesday though and start practising the beer drinking.

The all inclusive deal is from Thursday lunch thru to Monday lunch. I couldn't get enough time even for that so we'll be Thurs ''til Sunday night.

I don't think the price is too bad.

Decent tent with two separate sleeping areas and chairs, airbeds etc... all erected for us in advance.
Relaxation tents i.e. large areas where you can go and watch on the plasma screens
General admission ticket
Grandstand ticket
Secure campsite and parking
High grade of food
Inclusive bar
Exclusive toilets and showers
etc

for £408 per person

I must be getting middle aged as now I prefer to spend a bit extra for the easier life. One email with a credit card and it's all sorted.

Since I don't have a tent, air bed etc it'll probably not be too much more expensive anyway .... and with a young family I'm not able to do this every year....in fact it's a miracle I got a pass this year. The weekend clashes with my son's 2nd birthday and it's fathers day !

I think you need you book it via your dealer, but I think all the places for this year are now sold.
Oh and you need to be driving an Audi to get in, apparently no non Audi's are allowed on the site.

As Daz says, I believe they've all gone. In fact I heard they have a list of 300 people!

It may be worth contacting Audi Events just in case though :
