SPA track day 17/10 - what happened to close the track?

Post by neckarsulm » Sat Oct 21, 2006 8:39 pm

Hi,
Called into spa on way back from 'ring and after 1 minute spectating the track shut due to an accident.
Anyone know what happened?
Marshalls said it would be 4 hrs due to armco damage and involved 4 cars.
Cheers

Oh dear Big Mo, I hope he was OK, I am not trying to revel in it just curious as to what happened for the report I am writing on my trip. Seeing as, driven by enthusiasm, I had detoured to visit Spa on my own leaving my 'ring comrades and getting a separate ferry on my own later in the day, just so I could spectate, I think it is actually "my business" but thanks for the quality response.

There were various incidents throughout the two days....as always with pretty much any trackday ! A couple of breakdowns and a Porsche cup car that met the barrier...

Certainly none that involved 4 cars though !!

Taking my crew hat off for a minute, the accepted form with any sort of incident is that nothing is said on forums, mailing lists etc until those involved post as appropriate (or not). Its much better that way.

I think thats what John is referred to above.

You certainly have a more eloquent way than some others :)
Thanks for the explanation, and sorry for breaking unwritten forum rules.
My French isn't what it used to me though I couldn't mistake the international gesture for accident from the marshall (hold left hand out and punch palm with fist of right!).
