Bedford Autodrome

Post by Jarv » Wed Aug 30, 2006 10:30 pm

Just booked to go on this track day at Bedford Autodrome on Thursday 7th September:

http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/track ... uctID=2286

Anyone on here going or have been before and got any tips? I expect that it's not the most glamourous of circuits, but I have to admit that, as I use the RS4 to go to work every day, the long run-offs appealed.

Went there in the S4 in 2003 - great circuit - wide and fast (I think I reached 130mph on the main straight), and as you said lots of run-off areas(well apart from one corner). I toyed with the idea of going back, but they don't seem to do the autoexpress audi days anymore. I checked some of the other days out and there's a mixture of cars, which usually means a mixture of ability and idiots!

Cheers Nige,

You've whetted my appetite sufficiently. Not sure I've the right to complain about a mixture of ability, but I certainly don't want to share the track with idiots! Bad enough sharing the roads with them.

I'll see if I can get the other half to come along...she's itching to get the RS4 on the track after seeing it in action at Goodwood. Nice local track for me too!

Took my B7 RS4 there 3/4 weeks ago, as you say lots of run off's and that's what appealed to me too. Was getting 140 dead down the straights. Quite hard on the brakes (well it depends on how you drive) but great fun.

Not one car came past me and only a Tuscan S was fractionally faster down the straight which surprised me and the guy driving it who I spoke to after. He was very impressed with the RS4.

Tuscan S didnt breakdown but a 550 maranello want bang down the straight just before the chicane, dumped it's oil all over the track which I ended up going sideways through - bit of a hairy moment back kept it on the track!!

I'll see you there then derdle.

I was going along with my mate and he was taking his S2 Avant, but he can't make it now, but I'm still going. Decided to book some time with an instructor as well, seems like good value at £25.

I've clocked the mods on your RS4, so I'll try to avoid going out at the same time as you, don't want to embarrass myself!

Hi Jarv,

Hardly any mods at all...besides, driving technique is just as important...

It's all about having a bit of fun in safety.

Looking forward to meeting you.

We did an RS246 member organized trip to Bedford a couple of years ago, excellent day out. Great track for the nervous or wayward driver.

You'll have a lot of fun. Do check brakes are tip top before visiting, they won't be when you leave.

Power isn't everything....this is lifted from the General Car bit. Would you believe an Elise up against a Bugatti Veyron?.....

So 1000bhp v what maybe 190bhp... No contest? Have a look...

Had a fantastic time at Bedford Autodrome last night. Me and Paul (really nice to meet you and you good lady, hopefully see you at AD International on 14th October) kept the four ringed flag flying high. Some interesting cars turned up, mainly Porsches (GT3's and turbo's), Exige's and Elise's.

Several people had moments, spinning off, but massive run-offs meant everyone went home safely. Highly recommend it to anyone.

BTW, if anyone is interested, photos of last night's track event have been posted on:

http://www.lee-marshall.co.uk/events/

Click on 'Trackdays', and then 'MSV Track Evening @ Bedford Autodrome 07-09-06'

Mine's the RS4 B5 in the 'Black, Grey and Silver Cars' section, and Paul's is in the 'Red and White Cars' section.

The Ferrari was trailered to the event and driven by a laydee.
