Audi Driver International '06

Post by GrahamS4 » Wed Aug 23, 2006 6:09 pm

Just got my invite.

Is this just a track day event or a show with stalls etc like GTI International?

The pricing/booking looks like it is just a fancy track day - am I right?

I'm up for am Audi day out, but not a track day on this occassion.

Graham

Spectators tickets are only £5pp, can't see how to book in advance.

I think there are plenty of trade stands etc, but if anyone can let me know from experience if this is a good day out, a little track spectating, mooching around trade stands, concours show etc or if this really is only a track day with a few side stands I would appreciate it?

thanks

How about having a club stand at this event? Would be good to get a collection of members cars together. Theres no problem having your car on the stand and also doing track sessions, in fact its easier as you can park closer to the track. What do you guys reckon? I am up for contacting Autometrix if people are interested. I have attended this event for the last 2 years and its getting bigger and better, a must for all Audi enthusiasts.

The question is, "What does RS246 have to gain?". Here are my reasons:

Visibility - We already have enough
Access to track - CC is too small for our cars, and too many incidents
Meet and greet - Our Christmas events are good, shame people aren't so keen to committing to coming to those
Good for RS246 members - True, can't argue against
Cost - We find it hard to come to terms with supporting events, when the same courteousy is not returned.

Sorry for the "tell it as it is" response, but that's how it is :)

Comments welcome.

Hey Phil - here's a few 'comments' for you :?

What do you mean about CC being too small - the track? If so, it isn't always about being able to reach VMAX on the straight - some of us go just to have fun!
Are we having an xmas meet/event this year?
I don't think a 'static' display area costs anything, it's the trade stalls that cost the money?

I have included my thoughts below.

PhilT wrote:The question is, "What does RS246 have to gain?". Here are my reasons:

Visibility - We already have enough - Can you ever have enough publicity?
Access to track - CC is too small for our cars, and too many incidents - I am sure there are plenty of RS246 members who track their cars at CC without any problems. Track is optional anyway, I was thinking of a club stand to show off some of our cars and meet fellow members
Meet and greet - Our Christmas events are good, shame people aren't so keen to committing to coming to those - this is a good day out for any Audi enthusiast, lots to see and a cheap day out. Might be more appealing to some members.
Good for RS246 members - True, can't argue against - yes
Cost - We find it hard to come to terms with supporting events, when the same courteousy is not returned. - Costs nothing to have a club stand.

Sorry for the "tell it as it is" response, but that's how it is :)

Comments welcome.
I will be attending anyway but just thought that this club would make a worthy addition to what is becoming a good day out on the events calendar. Other clubs that attend include:-

S2 Forum
Audi-sport.net
Audi Owners Club
TT Owners Club
A2 Owners Club
Quattro Owners Club
Many others that I cannot remember.

Perhaps people could list there interest

I think it would be good to at least get a banner and park together.
