As above, looking to go later this year with a few mates.

Looking for something that offers decent food and is fairly local to the action.

Thanks in advance.

There's zero action by the ring at night. If you want a great time, stay in Cologne, fill up with ARAL 102, jump on the 555 and 565, max your car out then drive through the villages and mountains to the ring. There's great bars, beer hofs, great food, shopping so you can buy the Mrs a present.

I've stayed here, it's where people say "you must" stay.

yes, it's run by Sabine Schmidt's mum and is close to the ring. the rooms are fairly basic and there's not much action in evening.

The steak is good though!

I wonder if PhilT will ever allow the story of a rather amusing evening with a member of the Schmidt family in their restaurant to be told? :beerchug: :bigblink:

As above though, if you've never stayed there, then it's a must you do.

Thanks guys.

I wasn't expecting strippers when I said 'action', just other car enthusiasts etc...

What's the best time of day to go out onto the circuit? Quietest, least cars?

Cheers

Hotel an der Nordschleife isnt bad if you don't mind it fairly basic. Right by the half way round entrance and the diner at Adenau.

Racers Retreat is fairly good and the guys that run it are ace.

Apex Nurburg, love these guys. Robert,Misha and the team are great fun and they have lots of nice cars you car look at or even take out. We're staying here this year and I can't wait as its slap bang in the middle of Nurburg, 30 seconds from Pistenklause, and a 1 min drive to the main Nordschleife entrance.

I hope they help.

Yes APEX is the best placed and have a camera on the starting gates, so you can jump on as soon as the ring is open ie, in the evening, after a crash etc. I've met Robert too, a real gent and good lad and best of all loves cars. See what I mean :rocker: :

There really isn’t any nightlife around the ring!

Cochem is nice and not that far.

Staying by the ring I like the Lindner Ferienpark. Basically a bunch of 3/4 bedroom houses on a holiday park. Awesome bbq huts! It’s basically when you’re there with a bunch of mates as there’s nowhere to go.

We’ve stayed here for the past 10 years. Essentially half way to Cochem. Always bound to meet petrolheads staying there. Food’s delicious, good value and Jacqueline Miller is a great host. Action? Make your own, the roads around there are fab! Worth the drive there and back to the Nordschleife.
