RS246 does the Triangle

Post by HYFR » Fri Aug 21, 2015 7:22 pm

Had a great day out with Marc and Will in their RS 4's at EVO Triangle

Started the day cross country into Wales with the rain lashing down whilst I managed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's and 860PS of twin turbo power

It was tricky

Met the guys at the amazing Rhug Estate for an awesome full English

By then it had stopped raining and we even ate outside!

Parked up and immediately the decked B8 looked awesome. Really phat and somehow made the B7 look weeny !!

Hit the triangle and Sod's law it started raining again!

This required a lot of gentle inputs on throttle and steering and reading the road surface and short shifting and riding the torque

But we could still get a proper shift on and make good progress!!

I could imagine proper Quattro and street tyres made the '4's a bit easier to manage than the R8 !

Think we managed about 6 laps in the end.

Good fun !

Awesome day!

Dave, the R8 is an amazing piece of kit. :beerchug:

Realised pretty quickly that my car is a little too low for those roads but still massive fun, the last run through a sneaky B road Dave found on google maps and it was perfect, sweeping smooth blacktop....perfect!

Nightmare journey home on the M6, 2 hours to get there and over 4 hours on the way back, but worth it.

And that breakfast is worth the trip alone!

What a day! Starts with fine food at the Rhug Estate, follwed by epic roads with a near full range of weather conditions.

The Heff was immense! To be honest, I'm surprised DK pushed on as much as he did with the Cup2 tyres and mighty wall of torque when the boost kicked in. The man has balls.

Heff sounded awesome, looked awesome, was awesome!

DK short shifted, which meant we were all pretty even really. Completely dry and more open roads and he'd have dropped us big time. It would literally be like watching the Millennium Falcon hit light speed. To be fair, that car sounds pretty much like a space ship on boost too.

Will and I had a side by side run later. He pulled away very slightly (possibly due to the gearbox?!). On the road, really there is nothing in it.

Just wrapped Paul, so reversible. I thought it would tie in nicely with the Titan wheels when the paint Shop can do them. Although I still love Mugello with Alu.

How was Snet?
