Free Track Day - Charity rides Bruntingthorpe Sat 9th Aug!

Hi all, I've volunteered for this as it looks like fun! It's a free track day giving charity passenger rides from 9am (arrive at 8am) on Saturday 9th August at Bruntingthorpe (just 10miles south of Leicester off the M1) and they're after a few more drivers for what is basically a free trackday. There's a total of around 300 drivers going to be there from various clubs so I wouldn't expect you to be doing a huge amount of driving TBH but it's free and a good cause.
Here's the original post on Pistonheads from the Rally For Heroes Organiser Benn -

In a nutshell, you turn up in your car and take passenger laps around the track all day at no cost to you bar your fuel and tyres.
I'm after 10 cars and drivers that are willing to come along for the day and help bolster up our numbers, you dont have to have a supercar, but it does need to have a bit of go about it and be capable of giving the passengers a grin.
If youre interested, PM me and I'll pass you the details.
Many thanks,
Benn.
If you're interested please message ME on RS246 and I'll pass on Benn's contact details to you.
Here's a quick clip in an Ultima GTR (check the track layout) from last years event where they raised over £46K!
and a longer clip about the whole day with Stunt displays, airshow etc!

Re: Wheelchair - I wouldn't have thought it'd be a problem as there must be someone at the "gate" (where passengers get in) the whole time checking passes etc and you could leave it there. Worst case ask someone to put it in the boot after you're in and use a few bungies or cargo net to hold it down.
As I said in the text, I'm still 50/50 about doing it with a roofbox fitted, just for the extra grin factor, but I don't think the roofbox could handle the speed without some modification as I wouldn't want it ripping apart at 150mph+

That would be quite amusing but I agree with you on the ripping apart bit! Plus less people might want to go if they don't see the humour in it. I'm going to spend a bit of time cleaning and waxing mine to get it a bit more presentable.
That Ultima GTR in the vid was getting to 180 on the straight, i dunno what power he's running but I can't wait to see what we can do And I'm going to see how far I can push these Pilot super sports in the corners!

The weather looks like it could be a wet one which should be a bonus for those of us with Quattro Grip!

Yeah absolutely! We should be able to run circles round some of the more riddiculous cars if it's wet
New discs and pads installed and bedded in, stopping power is much much better!

Do you fancy meeting up and having a mini-convoy? I'm thinking either M40 J10 services at Cherwell valley or a bit earlier on the A34 at the A44/Peartree services.

Could do, meeting at A34 sounds like a good plan.

Here's the postcode for the PearTree services on the A34 - OX2 8JZ - you have to pull off, go down the sliproad and turn right on the roundabout to get to the services.
It's about 1hr15 to get to Bruntingthorpe from Oxford at legal speeds and we've got to be there at 8am so say meet-up at 6.30am for a quick brew before we head off? There's a Shell and Tescos near to Brunters too so I'd like to top-up before we start the rides!

Cheers, that sounds good to me. Probably the best place to top up is Tesco at northampton off junction 15 on the M1.

The weathers starting to look better - Started off with a 60% chance of rain on Monday and now it's down to 20%. Lets see what happens Friday night!

Good news!
I can't believe more people aren't jumping on this opportunity. Maybe they're all posers and never actually go fast?

Last weather report, bright sun shine in the morning, slightly cloudy afternoon with a slim chance of rain around 2-3pm (10-20%) and an overall temp of 23'c so it looks like it'll be a good day after all.
