Anyone up for a meet at Santa Pod on Saturday the 1st June as there is another public track day “Run What Ya Brung” (RWYB) event booked?

For those who are interested in their cars real world performance then this is a good opportunity to do a ¼ mile in safe environment. The facilities are good and you can browse around the pits at the customised cars - some are just mental, like a jet powered go-kart!? I went last month and it wasn't that busy, if you want to take your car up the strip then I would probably suggest to arrive by 9AM for registration. I'm looking to see if I can improve on my launch times - lower tyre pressure etc...

It would be good to see a few other Audi's up there. It’s centrally located so if your interested then please post below.

Venue normally opens at 8.00am with the track open from 9.30am to 5pm. It is recommended you arrive before 9.30 to ensure track-time.
We can only accept a limited number of sign-ons, so arrive early to avoid disappointment! Admission for normal RWYB public track days is £10, plus a one-off signing on fee of £25 for drivers for unlimited runs or £10 for passengers going down the strip.

Please note, track opening times are approximate and may be subject to track and weather conditions. The dragstrip cannot be used in the wet. Don't forget your driving licence!

Anyone up for this? Weather looks okay

Well the weather was good again for the second visit up to Santa Pod! There were the usual dedicated dragster and different flavours of cars around – Classic Ford’s Car show is tomorrow so the Mk1’s Escorts were out in force with their Cosworth Lumps!

The guys from TTS Superchargers were there dragging there TypeR and Harley Motorbike. I got chatting to them in the queue (nice guys) and had a couple of head to heads with Darren (SC designer) in the TypeR but I think he had a bit of trouble with his clutch as was struggling off the line. I think he managed a 12.9 in the end but fully fit I’d expect a lot more as it pushing out over 500bhp which is a pretty crazy for a front wheel car

The event was a lot busier than last time and the cues in the afternoon were longer but I managed five runs and improved my time which was on run #4 (12.54secs 109.79mph) Sod's law my mate didn't video that one!

I was recommended to lower the tyre pressure down as I was getting too much wheel spin off the line again so with Darren’s help eventually found that 18psi rears and 25psi fronts seemed to work the best – no slip on the start and it was off! Just had to watch the braking at the end of the strip! Might be tempted to upgrade the clutch at some point if this becomes a regular thing but for now the std clutch seems to be handling it just fine.

I thought with your phantom supercharger you might have got a better time!

I saw a pristine mk1 earlier and I thought to myself there was probably some vent on this weekend.

Lol!!! SC cars will go under 11.7 easily. Yeah I was meaning to do an Arthur's test but TBH after waiting in the cue for 30 mins each time I was more inclined to use the time to drag it.

Hey Tim, Yeah it's quite a good fun My mate took a few with his iPhone so will try and get some downloaded but not expecting great quality. Last months runs Trups kindly took them and they look okay
