Bedford Aerodrome

Post by toasty » Wed Apr 09, 2003 1:06 pm

Just phoned these people up.

Thought it might be a great venue for the next RS246 trackday.

For those who haven't seen it, checkout clubautodrome

It's the home of the famous 'how fast' event, again for those who've never heard of it, check out how fast?

The grandtourismo circuit is 3.6 miles long and has a 1km straight so should be possible to clock some serious speeds along there.

The cost is high (about £12,000 for the day) but if enough people were interested it could be worth investigating.

60 people at about £200 each......

What does everyone else think, it's got to be one of the best tracks in the UK.

....and whilst I know you can just arrange to attend one of their trakdays, personally I think having the whole track to ourselves would be excellent, and I'd feel a lot safer knowing the people on the track with me.

Anyone interested?

Count me in but the overall cost seems a bit high. They never have 60 cars on a howfast meet (nearer 30) and we could have Donny for £12k

Thanks for getting the bal rolling Dan.

I'm up for it at £200 per day .

Just a thought though. It may be worth just linking up with one of the organised days at £195 per head. That way there is no chasing people or pressure on anyone from this board to organise it. Frankly it was difficult enough to get 30 people for our last outing at CC. As well I like the idea of being able to go up alongside Porsches, M3s etc.

But I'd love to do Bedford so count me in provided I have enough notice.

Joshie maybe you have a point.

How about we book a date far ahead, say three months and all bombard it with bookings, we may well fill over half of the day wwith people we know and then no one has the hassle of organising the finances or people to come, if you dont book and you miss out, tough titties

I agree - pick a trackday on bookatrack and all go for it - its hard enough getting 5 people for a RR day, let alone 60 people.

£12,000
I think someone needs to use there negoiating powers here
60 cars at £200 would be very difficult
Now 40 at £250 is £10,000... not to be sniffed at
Some how i dont think you get good value at 60 cars...waaaay toooo many
Perhaps we should see if the would be willing to do this as a special.
Suggest someone has a word with them.
Cheers

Nice one John,

I tend to agree, to be honest it was the first price that he came up with, when he said it I thought $hit that's pricey and told him I'd think about it.

I'm sure with a bit of negotiating we could get it down to nearer £10k, especially if we can fit around their quiet times.

But in essence it does seem that some people would be interested? So perhaps I'll give them a call back and see if we can strike up a deal.

I'll let you know how I get on
