Hi Guys

Sounds as though you had a fantastic time. I've enjoyed reading your write-ups. Hopefully manage to get along and watch at the next RS246 Trackday - couldn't get time off work for this one. Or maybe I can persuade him indoors to buy me a track day car for Christmas and join in too!

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the late post, had a meeting in warwick all day yesterday.
Absoluty fabulous day, certainley the best trackday I have been to.
Extremley well organised big thanks to JR and Phil as well as Audi and the staff at Oulton.
I really enjoyed the track much more fun than the point and squirt tracks like Goodwood and Coombe, you really did have to think out there.
Car ran pretty much faultlessly all day for the first time ever at a trackday apart from running out of petrol 50yds from the forecourt of the Shell garage
Thanks my passengers who all made pleasing comments about the banana, it was great to be able to put a few more faces to names.
Can't wait for the next one, we certainly have a great group of people, its always a pleasure to go to these events.
Off now to find a few more mods ready for the next day.....

Who was in the 02 reg Black S3 ???? That was going very quickly and was the other car that caught me up!

that was me!

Have to admit my car was flying that day on the Potenza S03s with as much grip as if the track was dry. I cannot recall getting overtaken that day (except on cool down laps) and for once I managed to overtake so many RS4s I lost count . I do remember trying to follow RS4Steves old RS4 (Chubby now?) and that was one that I couldnt catch.

To be honest I was surprised how the REVO S3 appeared to be able to keep up with the RS4 accelerating from 3rd into 4th gear.

Thats why I loved the circuit, normally the RS4s fly past us at Donnny, Castle Coombe etc but Oulton is slower so much more fun.

What a great couple of days

Thanks for the northern hospitality on the evening before - especially the bus driver

Oulton Park - what can I say?
Probably the best track I have ever witnessed. You do not just turn corners and blast down straights. It is a flowing circuit and if you do not get the correct line around one corner then you find out a few corners down the track like I did!

Couple of rides with S2driver and jon. How does he get the car so out of shape with the ESP on?

Great hospitality from the OP staff - so a special thanks to the instructors/race control and those poor marshals sitting out in the cold all day. It was a slick day.

It was great to get everyone together at lunch for some nice food too.

Thanks to Phil and JR for organisation and to Audi for their contribution to the day.

To finish, I think my brakes are buggered again. Oh well! A new thread beckons

you are of course right. I stand corrected, although you, and now I recall Jeff went past me, Simon and a RS4 in a bit of a queue but it doesnt count as we were not up to speed then with it being our first or second real lap

I thought I'd got past you at some stage.....

For our next Trackday can I suggest Cadwell Park ...the Gooseneck is an incredible corner...cars with standard brakes need not apply

An absolutely stunning day. A big thanks to Phil and John for the organisation. What a track!! Awesome. As someone said previously, top cars, top people and a most enjoyable day out.

Bad point 1: going into the gravel trap...I wasn't even going quick but concentrating more on those beasts catching me up on track! I knew we were going off so I didn't even attempt the corner...I've seen road cars hit gravel traps sideways and then flipping!
Bad point 2: Smashing Andys windscreen. We came into the pits to check my car over after the gravel and I must have picked up some stones on the wishbones and sump guard. Still annoyed at myself Andy!!
Bad Point 3: My S2 being so slow and being a road block to others on the track. Sorry guys, I was a trackday virgin before 2 Dec!
Bad point 4: Oil temps hit 140C at one point..oops. Bigger oil cooler before the end of the month!

Good Point 1: Going for a spin with Andy, your car is the nuts. Needs a bit more poke though
Good point 2: My AP 6 pots. Yes baby! They WORK! Even better when the floaters go on and the rears are done to suit
Good point 3: got it really hooked up towards the end and the drying track became really good. Really enjoyed myself.
Good point 4: Sensible driving all around generally.

Yep, journey home was interesting. I have no idea what speed we were doing because my fuse has blown and only the radio was illuminated in the cabin. Don't think a copper would have accepted that excuse! John, you are going to have to tell me what speed I hit on the way back: I was flat out (and holding you up!).

Can't wait for the next one. Will have an extra 50 horses before the end of december so maybe I'll have a better chance on the track.

Anyway, off to buy a camcorder and a mount to get some footage next time.

I do remember trying to follow RS4Steves old RS4 (Chubby now?) and that was one that I couldnt catch.

Thanks for that, its not all about power as you correctly state, its about getting as much power down as possible and getting the corners right.

Beacuse of having two guests I didn't have much time to watch others, although the ones that I saw having their 'moments' on the first bend were just late off the brakes ie turned into the corner before applying the power, or too much power through the corner.

As the track started to dry, more of the RS4's power could be put down, making them a fair bit quicker after lunch.

As to the cars history, since I have owned it I have had, two sets of new brakes (1 x Audi, 1 x AP), suspension, new under arch covers (still in my garage), new full exhaust (Milltek shorter version), paint & bodywork, electrical work, engine mods, new 19 x 10 Sportec wheels and more including the best clean of its life!!! . I doubt if RS4Steve would know it anymore.

Its my toy now, and there will be more to come - watch this space.

What I would highly recommend to everyone who has not been taught by a professional how to drive on a track, to get one in the car with you, it will blow your mind. Most things you do on the road you will never do on a track.

The other thing is the skid cars, if you get an opportunity to have a go, do, its the best thing you will ever do on four wheels, except sex!!!
