Great Day out, crap weather all morning and then it was an OK afternoon.
My buildup started on Friday, spending the afternoon in Protyre in Gloucester. 4 * 265/30/19 Toyos for £770.00 all in...BARGAIN. They also spent a lot of time cleaning all the threads on the Hubs so that they would accept the longer nuts - top company and very cheap. Was also a crap day on Friday, so when I got home I decided to clean the car. It was raining still so got a few odd looks, but hey..

Up at 7:00am to find it still very wet on the roads. Met Giles (s4rs4) and his mate Johnny at his house and then set off. Giles asked what speed I minded doing, to which I replied "don't mind as long as we don't get nicked". We proceeded to average anywhere between 120-140 all the way there !!. It was fun, but every roundabout or corner saw the ESP light come on, or the car 4-wheel drift, causing some brown trouser moments. My tyres were still covered in the sheen from the mould...doh !! Clearly I was not going to put the RS on the track.
Anyway got there, morning was crap weather, although some classic moments from a couple of lads of had trailered an automatic V8 to the track and were getting it sideways.
In the afternoon I managed to get out on track as a passenger in Giles's car. It was awesome fun and it was a hell of a drive. Keeping up with John in his 480bhp RS4 and lapping in 1min 27secs which was only a second slower than the racing Golf when it went out...respect. Also had to keep turning the car on and off as it kept going into limp mode - some issues with the old S4 ECU running the RS4 engine.

Nice to catch up with a few guys and really miffed that my car looked so dirty when Ben's and Simons's looked so clean. They had done about 3 time the mileage I had on the way there, bloody black cars. Should have taken my cleaning stuff - but might have looked like a proper knob ?????
Lots of car clubs there, and would have been really good to have an area for the RS246. Any reason why we do not do this - I am very confident that we would have had a better showing than the A2 club !!!

Afternoon all,
It was a good day out on Saturday, saw jeffw, DuncS3, simont, Paul S3, ChelseaMick, JohnRS4, Domus (very briefly!).
Track sessions were good, we went out in the second group when the track was drying but greasy, very good. Next session was late morning when it was very wet, better still, lots of sliding around, including some in 4th gear above 100mph. Third was mid afternoon when the circuit was bone dry and very grippy, that was the best one !
The technical forum was good, are tuners politicians ? so were the stands but it would have been nice if there were more there, as others have commented.
A good event for people to try a track session/day and many did, which is nice to see.
Thanks for the passenger session jeff, I liked the power and smooth delivery and particularly the way it has not spoiled the character of the car, it's a credit to AmD.
Looking forward to the next one.

From experience, it is usually down to one person to organise things like stands, and as we all seem to work to support our petrol head habit, nobody has even organised nor suggested a stand. I am sure we could all club together to absorb the costs of a banner and flag or two without having to go through all the politics and BS assosiated with most car clubs.
Agreed, it would be nice to have a stand next year but it's unfair to ask the people running this site to do it.simple1 wrote:From experience, it is usually down to one person to organise things like stands, and as we all seem to work to support our petrol head habit, nobody has even organised nor suggested a stand. I am happy to help with time and a little cash.

We have banners and we have a Stall at our disposal too, bu personally i could not do it on a saturday, also im not too happy with the Organizer of this event, as some of know too well on 2 years ago when we attended.
I Really dont mind someone doing it as long as we can cover the cost internally.
So the only fair way is to charge for membership, would people be up for that?
I have always thought that people dont want to pay for anything (if they can help it)
Club Audi and Club GTI and others all have a scheme where there is membership, PhilT being an active member of Club Audi how does it work?
Cheers

I think it is a great idea for a stand - I'm happy to contribute also like David. Gotta somehow try and show off this car I've shelled all this money out for!
Was good to meet up again on Saturday with everyone. I'm still licking my wounds inflicted from that damn 300bhp A3!
