Edit: Did anyone else get back into their car at the end of the day and expect to be really dissapointed?
I did. But actually surprised at how smooth and quiet my car was

That was moi!Ian_C wrote:Yeah I was checking out the cup holders, turning the four zone climate up a notch and admiring the carbon EVERYWHERE! My co pilot was Nige / Nigel, not sure what his user name is, recall he had an S3, we had hilarious fun in that S8!
The S8 was definitely the surprise of the day for me - the shove in the back was relentless! That engine needs to be in the RS4! The RS5 was a big disappointment for me - no low end grunt and the cab version was probably pushing 2 tonnes!
Got back in mine and it felt quite crude compared to the newer cars but it would give any of those cars a run for their money on that alpine section.
I echo everyone elses thanks to Phil & Audi for putting on a very well organised day - bit too much waiting around at times and I didn't get to drive the RS4 and no photos but a special day nonetheless.

Re: RS246.com Annual Meet 2013
Great to meet you Nige. Yeah the RS5 Cab is 205kg more than the coupe! The 20s also felt too much, probably fine on the coupe and the RS4 which likewise I sadly missed out on
Driving the TT pairing was eye opening - the lack of weight and size! Don't want to sound greedy but I was looking forward to driving the new S3 - as you say it would be great on the Alpine Course with its small dimensions and its brand new 2.0 litre engine.
Coming home, I got back in mine and LOVED the fact it had a gearstick and a clutch pedal.

Although to be fair there were things I liked more about mine when I got into it.
1. Exhaust noise.
2. Buckets.

Was a pretty good day out, and was happy to get the chance to experience some of the current range (was there with SRS). The experience of Millbrook was worth it on its own, although would have been good to be allowed to go a bit faster on the bowl. Timster did look a bit pale after being in the rear of the RS5 on the Alpine circuit though..
Also good to meet some familiar faces, and the run up from South Mimms was epic with the noise in the Hatfield tunnel. Did think I was watching a live Police, Camera, Action when I watched the idiot van driver overtake half the convoy after we left the A1..what a

The TT RS present yesterday lists at £52,700 plus paint (there are no free paint colours) plus options!! To quote Clarkson, you've got to have a flappy paddle head to buy that

Re: RS246.com Annual Meet 2013
What I was hoping was there were S6, S3 and then the pairing of SQ5 and RSQ3
I understand from chatting to the Audi guy that they had a similar event on the Saturday and one of the Millbrook 'driving pro' guys had thrown up in the S6, so it was unusable due to smell ! Haha
I thought considering the amount of potential S/RS brand customers they had as a captive audience on the day that there was a surprisingly low level of sales pitch, which of course is a good thing.
However, at the same time, I'm surprised they didn't have a much greater car/attendee ratio and make the sessions a bit more involving in driver/car so you could really get a feel for what you were driving.
We ended up nego'ing two laps of the alpine circuit with each driver instead of doing a yawn inducing 100 on the bowl.
At previous events I've been there with Audi, they have a road route and they talk you through all the various modes and functions
It, of course, means you need to sit through a sales pitch, but it made the day a lot more involved and I suspect it resulted in a fair few sales
Don't get me wrong, I mean nothing but gratitude to Audi and to phil for organising, but I think if they did it a bit better it would've been a better day for us and a much better chance to convert more sales for Audi, which ultimately this is all about
Still, I had fun, so thanks

Oh, and my stand out things from the day ;
Head up display in the RS6, which was awesome until I put my polarized raybans on and it then disappears as the polar filter takes it out:(
And, testing an RS4 on boggo suspension and steering in comparison to my dynamic car

Ahhhhhhhhhh I wondered after my run why I didn't notice the HUD! Assumed it was just because my eyes were on stalks as the line of cones halve the width of the runway before another line of cones quarter the width of the runway as you are approaching 155....

It was organised by Audi PR, hence the lesser salesy approach. The drivers weren't Audi employees but sourced via Millbrook, ergo, they weren't up to speed on the car features.Graeme4130 wrote:What I was hoping was there were S6, S3 and then the pairing of SQ5 and RSQ3

Yeah... really didn’t like being in the back of the 5. (to be honest, I wasn’t too fussed when in the front either.. but that’ll teach me to fcuk about with the paddles).graemep wrote:Was a pretty good day out, and was happy to get the chance to experience some of the current range (was there with SRS). Re: RS246.com Annual Meet 2013
Bet either the 4 or 6 on the alpine was good . I found the tts a bit lacking in oomph and poise . The rs5 cabby was ok ish but not really great . The ttrs I did like and was thinking of going all sausage jockey until some on pointed out the price
... The rs6 after lunch nearly had my lunch making an appearance in the back seat but was quite awesome but after it all when I got in the rs4 it still felt special and sorely missed the stick too . Was a really great day and by far the most laid back instructor was in the ttrs .. Top bloke . Top marks to audi pr
