Good Day out not as busy as last year but still enjoyable,
some nice cars on and off the track, good to meet you Dave,
I don't know about your car being in-adequate
Look forward to the next one..

No longer a track day virgin! I thoroughly enjoyed the day and was good to meet up with so many like minded people. Next time I'll make sure I get a tape for the video camera (Doh!). Did get a few photos from the official photographer and may try to post one up later.

Next time out, I'll make sure to leave the spare wheel and other crap behind to shed a few kilos. Was quite dispappoinetd with the handling of the car really, but guess that is why so many people mod their suspension. I suppose a decent set of tyres would help too (nothing wrong with the driver of course???).

Thoughts of the day must go to the poor s*d in the TT who scraped his nearside down the armco in the first few laps of the first session. Needs a little bit more than AutoGlym to help him out.

Great day, and looking forward to the next one.

Paul

OK, in what respect? Do you mean on track? There are plenty of marshalls out there. Has a member had problems then?

Basically on track. Too many idiots and show offs. Power monsters whose cars blow up, and tuners who employ 'race' drivers to demonstrate their products. This all adds up to lack of track day rules, and respect for those presented. Thankfuly RS246 members have had no issues IIRC.

Also the cost of attending such an event outweighs the benefit IMHO. We however are open to suggestions for future RS246 events.

Bit unfair that one Phil. The day at Croft they held just recently was organised by them yes, but the day itself was run by the Croft staff to their rules, which to be perfectly honest are some of the best standards I have seen from a uk trackday organiser so far (15 cars max on a 2.2 mile track). Those rules apllied to everyone irrespective of wether you had a trade stand in the paddock.

I would suggest that any previous trouble there has been on the track at combe will have been down to the organisation of the track officals and not Auto matrix, I can harldy see them turning up once every year and being able to dicate the running of the circuit for the day to the owners.

edited to add 2nd paragraph

Fair play Gav.... My only experience was at CC, and I'm not in a hurry to repeat it.

Maybe there is a different mindset when the event is up North..... ;)

Like Croft, the administration of the track itself was down to the circuit marshalls not Autometrix. Same rules applied, 15 cars max. on circuit at anyone time, of which 3 could be sponsored/demonstrators for advertisers. I had at least 2 of my 4 sessions with less than 10 cars. Only saw 1 incident of bad track manners with an a**hole in a black golf who wouldn't let faster cars past.

I know a couple of drivers were warned about the standard of their driving and at least one car that appeared to be smoking was brought straight in to avoid any oil incidents. Not sure what the history is but as far as this day was concerned, Croft in April, and the Audi day at Combe last September I think it was well organised and responsibly managed. There's no legislating for the odd nutter who can, after all, turn up anywhere. If he becomes known then I hope any organiser would remove them from the track.

IMHO there was nothing to be concerned about here and I know a few of us had a very good day :D
