Why has CliveH withdrawn? Clive is unequivocally a <beep> decent guy - therefore something must've seriously pissed him off to resort to withdrawing from this shoot-out.

Wonder what could've been?

Just wanted to add, I am taken aback at the recent comments.

Why have you posted that up Varsity? I agreed to do that with Doug but not with anyone else, as per the PM I sent you.

I have asked for a cheque to be posted please.

Sorry guys, I've been rather busy, and need to dash right now, but you of course deserve an explanation, although this will have to be rather brief.

Quite simply, I advised DavidT on 24 August, when I spotted the request for payment by cheque, that I was working overseas for 10 days but if he needed the money in the meantime I would make an electronic bank transfer - "No worries, just send me a cheque when you get back".

Being one of the "tossers" on the "bad debt list" who should be "told to fcuk off" doesn't really work with me I'm afraid...!

However, rather than the "tough luck" attitude above, I certainly wouldn't want to spoil it for those who do want to attend and will gladly contribute the £50 I committed to if my withdrawal might put the event in jeopardy.

Have fun!
Clive

I'm sorry you feel that way Clive, as far as I was / am concerned, you have done exactly what I asked and the arrangements for your payment were firm.

A number of people have not been in touch to pay, some have said they will pay but cheques have not arrived as yet. A couple have said 'I dunno if I want to attend, I'll have to check if I'm still free' having originally agreed to come along & pay. I don't suppose I need to express my opinions on these !

A lot of people have just paid up

I agree that some comments made in this thread are not constructive, I can see both sides though and having put a lot effort into this (including arranging to have each car weighed, vag-com for intake temp & timing on the RR runs and hopefully FATS runs for each as well with intake temps & timing) I have to say I am fedup of the whole thing just now. It is difficult to find time to arrange these things, I wish people would just do what they've agreed to do !

It's not a feeling but a matter of fact - re-read my explanation above.

I'm sorry to hear about your woes David, but glad to know that I didn't contribute to them. Hope you get everything sorted and that the event is a success.

I wish to echo this...

While I am a regular on the forums I do not watch every single post. I have been expecing a PM once everything was confirmed.

I received a PM from David requesting the money and just over 24 hours later I get a snotty message saying why the hell have I not replied??

I like Clive feel like saying fcuk it! David - you are a top guy when we have spend hours chatting in the past, but how you came across via PM was not what I would expect and to be honest put me off going to the event. I have committed the £50 and so like Clive if required I will pay it.

I think the organisers of the event need to be more proactive when collecting funds, give notice in advance via PM or e-mail, not expect the individual users to watch the post daily for updates. Some have the time, others unfortunately dont. I showed my interest in the event and was awaiting instruction. I know it is very difficult to arrange events (as I have tried and failed in the past) and so being "expected" to collect funds proactively may not be something you feel you should do, and that event arrangement is a PIA - that is the way it is unfortunately. Had I received a PM/e-mail or call once everything was confirmed you would have had payment pronto from me.

Leon, if you think what you've put in this post is fair and reasonable then I'm glad your not coming. End of discussion.
