I suppose I'm lucky being so close to Croft because it really is a fantastic track. For those who have never driven it before, it's rewards the driver throughout the whole day as your speed in the faster sections gradually increases with each session that passes and your braking distances are vastly reduced from where you first start out from (vastly being the operative word hey gordon?). Then on the other hand its also good for the driver who has been around there before as they can make the most from the day trying to perfect what they have previously learn't, which believe me isn't easy because some of the fastest lines are reet swines, trying to get them though is good as you are pushing the car to its absolute limits and learning what you can and cant do with it, isn't that right Dave?

:rocker:
Yep...I don't think there was much if anything quicker than us on the day so we all did the RS4 proud I think..

Croft is fantastic...my first time driving there (although I'd been taken around as a passenger last year). As Gav says, the fast lines (especially through the Esses) are awesome...in the first session I was braking for it...until I watched Gav go through one lap...it's certainly the one place where you can make up shed loads of time on people who aren't quite taking it right...Smoothness required though! Really liked the double apex right hander too.

Missed the other Misano going bang!...Ouch...two in one day

Sunny in, sunny out, my favoruite too..... It's the same feeling through your arse as druids is at oulton park (hard braking zone into a sweeping double apex) feels totally awesome as the car just naturally runs through the apex and out to the concrete strip on the exit of the corner under full throttle...wicked.

Not sure about the Misano one, as I wasn't there then (didn't bother with the last session of the day cos I needed to get home)...

I'd guess at turbos on Steve's....was puffing out white clouds when he left and he apparently had no boost...but in his words 'At least I can go for the upgrade now..!' :rocker:

Brakes were awesome mate...soo much stopping power - race pads and standard DOT4 fluid. No problems whatsoever....I think that's one of the main reasons I enjoyed the day so much...had confidence in everything on the car, meaning I could just concentrate on the driving. The Pilot Sports 2's were nice too...started to go off towards the end of the sessions but held up well really! (increased pressures to 40 all round before going out).

We've found the Pilots excellent on a few cars now,Boxster S, M-Coupe, E46 M3 and my RS4, best road tyre I've seen for coping with on track abuse.

keep an eye on the tyre pressures when they are hot, you're looking for a 4-5psi rise in pressure between cold(ie before you start) and hot(when you've just come in) its not the way to get the maximum life from a tyre on track, but it makes a difference to the lap times...... 8)

You buggers!!
I've been whistling that soddin Honda advert all day as well :bash:

The MTM/Milltek Misano Red that gave up the ghost on the final session was limping in at about 20mph and went straight into the pits. Prior to that it had been flying! :rocker:
Not sure what its problem was. He appeared to be trying to get it to go again but the car wouldn't have it. Worth mentioning perhaps that both the cars that went bang had been the most heavily modded. Not much standard on either car, very much given in to the dark side as Gav would say. Both were on 19" MTM wheels too coincidence . . . ?

Great circuit, a good test of car and driver. Car passed with flying colours but I think driver could do better. Confidence building though. Looking forward to the next outing.

Yes, yes, a Jedis strength flows from the force,
but beware of the dark side.
Anger, Fear, Aggression.
The dark side of the force are they.
Easily they flow if once you start down the dark path,
forever will it dominate your destiny.
Consume you it will.

:yoda:

(sad-ass ba**ard I know)

Misano red mtm/miltek car was on 19 sportec btw.

The scene: 5 minutes after we came in from the first session....stood in the pits...(wording not exact, but you'll get the gist!)

Mr Rep: Ahh..nice car, what are you running?
Gav: standard, bog standard except the front brakes..don't need anything else.
Mr Rep (eyes lighting up and handing card over): Ahh..can I interest you in a trial ?
Gav (accepting card and reading the Revo bit): Ah, um..no thanks, not interested, no chance (handing card back)
Mr Revo Rep (looking quite dumbstruck): Oh.
Everyone else: *laughing*
Mr Revo Rep (trying hard): But, but..its untraceable..it'll give you 450bhp..I can do it for you now and you can test it.
Gav: Nope, no, not interested, save your time, go away. It's not untraceable and it's only 420bhp or so.
Everyone else: *still laughing*
...
Quality....the look on the poor guys face, he wasn't quite sure what to do...I don't think he'd ever experienced such a rebuttal.

Thanks to all for a great day.
I found my confidence in the last 2 sessions after I turned off the sat nav! My average lap time was 1.46.
I don't know how that rates but it was a most beautiful course to drive when given some space.

Dave and Gav you were flying . I loved that REVo bit also it was such a kick in the bol**c*s, But he really deserved it with his smarmy business approach.

The last session was brilliant there were only 3 cars on the track so if felt empty and allowed for great freedom. My tyres were superb , Thanks Jr.
Dave I think you may have missed the tt that would not let you past crashing off in one of the latter stages.

The brakes were very reassuring they did on occasion go a little spongy Dave you also mentioned this. I understand this means you need to let them cool a little.
I also noticed the cracks increased in size quite significantly even though I used the pro pads.

All in all the experience was superb.

Yes, I saw him having a high speed spin at the chicane towards the end of the day just before we left. :sniggerslikemutley:
