There were a few RS owners at Castle Combe yesterday. Don't know whether they're on this forum but it wasn't a bad day. ADI is normally at Castle Combe and is a good meet. This isn't until October though.

I went to ADI at Castle Combe last year, a really good day out. Might try and do a few days up at CC this year, off now to check out the calendar...

There's a PistonHeads meet for Caring with Cars charity on the 18th May just south west of Bristol with around 430+ cars going if you're interested. I'm meeting at Swindon and convoying down from there. There's only 2 R8's, 3 S4's and my RS6 on list so far so the more Audis the better!

***NEW*** Daytona C6 RS6 Avant - MRC'd - 925HP & 1150NM (PistonHeads Link)

I was hoping to get in on the caring with cars Swindon convoy, but I'm now tied up on that day
Castle Combe VAG day later this month is normally good for a few other RS/S owners and 246 normally have the shittiest stand available at ADI, eh Phil ;)

I'm going to try for the VAG day at CC, any tips on track day insurance? Never bothered before but getting old and sensible now?

Castle Combe has it's fair share of unexpected track exits to tyre wall too, so it's a sensible option there
In fact, they open most race briefings there by telling people that they have the corner that claims more cars per year than any other corner on a uk track, and I suspect it to be true

I couldn't recommend any personally, but first port of call is always to try your own insurer first as an extension to your own policy, as this could be much cheaper than a stand alone policy
General rule of thumb is it costs around around £1 per £100 of car value, so a £65k car will cost £650 per day to insure

Be EXTREMELY careful of Quarry Corner (the one described above as the UK's worst)!!!! Even though it looks harmless it's a downhill off-camber slight double apex with the 2nd apex tightening and almost every novice hits it way too fast and has "issues". Sadly there's no off run so 95% of the time you're in the tyre wall from either understeer (left side smashed) or oversteer (right side smashed).

However, treat it with respect and Combe is an awesome track, I've done around 15 track days there and enjoyed them all hugely!

Here's a quick vid of the many victims of Quarry for you :D

In-car of a crash at Quarry - See how deceptively flat/safe it looks - crash at 1:52
