Forge Motorsport Action Day @ Castle Combe - 8th September

Post by Jonmurgie » Mon Sep 03, 2012 11:10 am

Anyone going to this on Saturday: http://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/events/ ... ventID=288

Image

I'll be there in the RS having fun with 40 cars on track at a time - always entertaining and pretty much guaranteed some carnage!

Forge Motorsport Action Day @ Castle Combe - 8th September

Seen the s4, nice :) also seen the rather nice Red RS4 B5 razzing around with some nice flames out the back coming out of quarry! Also happened to be about 50 yards away from that 20v stacking it into the tires at about 80MPH, it locked up, slid straight into the tires, went about 8ft vertically, flipped on its roof and it ended up a very nice banana shape and about half a meter shorter!! No one hurt luckily.

Drifting as always, good fun, some car was running some weird rubber that smoked pink, he did an awesome controlled burn out down the pit lane.

Couple of GTR's "effortlessly" blasting around the track. Good day with good weather!

Had an awesome day at Combe - was inanely hot and busy though, utter carnage on track with many many red flags and badly damaged cars!!

Car ran perfectly as usual - had lots of nice comments in the pits, most people were surprised it was so quick for an estate I reckon

Got pics & movies to sort but here's a teaser for now :thumb:

The red RS4 is almost identical to my spec and ii mapped but the same guy, with the same flat shift - didn't get a chance to speak with him after the first session we were both out together in but guess he was having loads of fun :)

You have "funky" reg number Jon iirc. I think when you we're out I was jamming my face full of burger and steakhouse sauce<<< stuff is immense. I popped around to the MCR stand to check out his stage2 620bhp GTR and was pretty unsatisfied with the full white body wrap it had.. A company in Bristol did the wrap http://www.bristolbluecustoms.co.uk/ , bubbling at the edge of the panels and on the leading edge of the bonnet it must have had "<beep>" on the paint to start as you could see lots of lumps and bumps. I was thinking about wrapping mine but now... Not so. It may well have been a rush job to get ready for the show but I dunno. The denim mini was weird.

Noticed some one had stacked his aerial atom ouchy!!

Forge drift cars was just silly, makes you need an external wastegate with screamer pipes, doubled up with silly big roller bearing turbos!! :)

Good day in all.

I had a chat with the guy in the red RS4, nice chap. I believe he was part of a group with your RS4 Jon. You weren't around at the time. Your car was flying round, people on the stand were impressed.

As I posted in the GTR section of this forum the car was just insane. I had a great session at 3pm
in it and I was blown away.

Had a chat with a guy in his 12 plate C63 and he said it is a lovely car but traction really is an issue even in the dry and as we know it's pretty terrible in the wet.

Really great day and lots of friendly people.

Also it wasn't an Atom that he crashed. It is his kit car and he had issues with his alignment. He was parked next to me for the morning. He decided to stop running it as he didn't want to ruin it further. It has a WRX engine in it.

The Atom that crashed was a supercharged version that was hired for the day by Forge from www.atomhire.co.uk - guess that's what insurance is for

Oh my mistake then. It was just a load of people thought the guys kit car was an Atom and it got taken away on that trailer. I thought that's what was being mentioned above.

Did you manage to get any on board footage Jon?
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
