Anyone been to the Audi Driving Experience

Post by chrissy » Tue Dec 02, 2008 4:00 am

Hi just wondering if anyone on here has been to the Audi Driving Experience day, and if so how was it / is it worth the money? Since its coming up to Christmas, I was thinking about asking old St Nick  about getting a voucher to go.
Alternatively, could you recommend a better track day for getting the most from your motor and getting a bit of track time?
I thought it would probably be best to do one of these tuition days before taking the step and putting my own car on the track.
I have had a scroll through the net and found a few different track days. Just thought that it is good to get the opinion of the folks who have been already.

Cheers for any info.

Chrisc :)

I went on a 'track day' at silverstone. What it should be called is 90% classroom day 5% watching day and 5% track day, wasnt overly impressed with it all to be honest. Just want sum1 to show me for a few laps then let rip meself, didnt work out that way!

I would say that there are better courses available for the money. Depends on if you're happy to use your own car or not. Try don Palmer .... http://www.drivingdevelopment.co.uk/

I went on the Audi trackday at Silverstone a few months after getting the car. It is based more on the handling and at the time you got to drive the new TT, S6 and RS4. I really enjoyed it but agree perhaps asking santa for a voucher for www.palmersport.com would be more fun. It isn't just for corporate functions.

Was invited to Silverstone for the launch of the R8 a friend had on orde and experienced what i think must have been the "experience".

Basically you get to to be shown by some VERY experienced racing/rally drivers what the RS versions of Audi cars can do, then you are given the chance to do what they can do in the cars, and, of course, you make a fool of yourself.

Must say i had a great day, so much so i bought an RS4 shortly afterwards, i was so massively impressed by what the car could do !!!

Highlight of the day, taken round the circuit with the race/rally drivers at the wheel INCREDIBLE !!!
Mint Optic Pack saloon in Daytona Grey (Now sold)
B7 RS4 in Sprint Blue (Gone to a very good new home)
Evo V1 (wish i'd kept)
Numerous M3s

That doesn't really count as driver training in my book, just a jolly!

No, we had speakers in our cars linked to the instructors who were giving us help and advice on where we were going wrong all the time, it gave me great trust in the ABS system for example, to approach cones at 80mph plus, slam on the anchors and steer round the obstacle.

I learned a lot from these experts.
