Mmmm, the RS3 looked gr8, but was never driven (trailered in), so it's obviously not fully sorted yet. Sticker said it has full RS4 running gear which means that the Haldex (or Heldex on Riz's car) has been ditched. One minor issue I saw was the pipercross cone filter which was sat where the airbox normally goes on the RS4 and would be affected by heat by the off-side turbo - needs a heat shield made up for sure. Also heard a rumor that pipercross filters are reknown for clogging up MAFs as they come heavily pre-oiled.
p.s. gotta get myself some of those recaro race seats

Nice car, saw it at QST on MOnday, indeed full RS4 running gear has been fitted, the piper cross is the only option as an air box will not fit, they are planning on heat sheilds but on the "to do" list
Sounds lovely with the specially modded exhaust
Alledged 450bhp in this size motor should prove interesting!
I think that the donor car had a side impact causing itt o be written off, so the reason it will not drive is there is possible drive shaft failure, possibly remnants of the accident that wrote the car off!
Nice work thought Kim
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Bushys right. it was being driven down, and drive shaft on side of car that originaly had the crash gave up. It broke down somewhere on the M4.
It was trailered in to show. Simon, Dunc, Hopsta, Biturbo and myself were there when Kim fired her up. Lovely sound.

Well, the event was a complete success! The track was not too busy and as far as we can tell, only one person had a bad day! The poor dude driving the V8 who stacked it at Quarry! (Name withheld!) Its good to hear everyone else had a good day too.
Although there were some hairy moments on track and a few dodgy drivers whom there were several complaints about, the track sessions went without a hitch. There was a comfortable amount of cars at any one time although the worry from my point of view (and indeed several other members of the crew) is that future events may well see an increase in demand for track sessions and (I hate to say it) an increase in vehicles on the circuit at once. There are ways to overcome this though and as has been pointed out previously - 50k worth of car is a lot to be bundling around with loads of others! Fear not - we shall have this sorted!
We were a little let down by the historic vehicle display as there was supposed to be a really great line up sports machinery. The S1 rally car got banned from the track after its first parade lap. All I can say is this. I was following the S1 in a new S4 and to see this awesome piece of kit in action is absolutely amazing. I can imagine it was fun from track-side too but to be behind it powering round the corners and hearing the awesome sound of its (detuned!!) engine and turbo(s?) on full song is something I will not forget soon! A fantastic opportunity. I think the reason it was not allowed to go back on was the fact that it was tearing everybody up!!! (not to mention the fact that it was very loud) Shame!
I also got a couple of hot laps with the SKN driver in their RS4 - another experience not to be forgotton - especially the bit where he overtook Kim Collins in his sport quattro and forgot about the chicane!!! A little off-roading sir?
Anyway - we are glad it was an enjoyable event for those who made it along and hope to see more faces next year. It has also been decided that the event will work better as a single day show with the concours being held on the Saturday. The gala dinner (which was also a success - Perry McCarthy is very entertaining!) will still go ahead next year on the Saturday evening. Make sure you attend next year!!!
Cheers

(Oh yeah - a full show report will appear in the November issue of Audi Driver...)

Wasn't that V8 that 'lost it' the car that Audi driver mag had been featuring for the past 6 months, including spending some serious money bringing back up to 'as new' condition ??

Sounds like the event was better laid out then last years "shambles" (in my opinion) so may well be making a return to this event - as long as the numbers and prices don't creep up again.
Keep in touch and let us know about any group discounts that may pop up
Cheers

Yes, eagle-eyed visitors will have noticed that the V8 was indeed 'Project v8' from the pages of Audi Driver!!
this event has never been staged befire. you will be thinking of the Vw/Audi track day which is an entirely different kettle of fish! That is the over-subscribed track day that most people on here are referring to. Audi driver International is a new event and i am hoping we can keep the track entrants to a similar number to this years event as it was just right (so I am told) !!
We will have to look into group discounts. There may be an incentive for clubs and organisations such as RS246 for the next event we will, indeed, keep you posted!
