Trackday: Abingdon Airfield, Friday 8th August

Post by HibS4 » Thu Jul 31, 2008 7:12 pm

Hello all

Has anyone ever been to this trackday run by Motorsport Events? Open pit lane for £119. Also is anyone going to it?

Need to see what is happening with work but am very tempted to go along to this, as my first trackday.

Thanks for the tip off, I hadn't spotted that they do this at Abingdon. The airfield will be good for cars, it must have the biggest run off areas in the civilised world.

Can't do this one but will bear it in mind for the future. Have you considered Castle Combe? Rally Day 20th September and Audi International Day 11th October.

Downside with using airfield's as tracks is that the surface is very abrasive, and therefore tyre life is not good.
Might pop across though as it's only 15 mins away :D

I went to this one the other day and was not that impressed, thought the day was run really well and the guys were really friendly but the track did not suit the RS imo, too twisty and they have put a chicane on the long straight which would have been awesome. Apparently it was a new edition to the track.

Best one to go to chaps is Hullavington. Not too technical like the others (these more suited for smaller performance cars like Elises).
RS6 (MRC'd with econodrive) is not just for Xmas
Toyota Aygo Platinum for minimising carbon footprint.
