RS246 Driver Development Program - Exclusive Day

Post by DavidT » Wed Apr 04, 2007 1:03 pm

We are pleased to confirm an RS246 exclusive day on the Driver Development Programme to be held at the Prodrive testing ground on Thursday 31 st May.

This is a whole day event. You will be paired up and apart from breaks (see the agenda on the website) you will either be driving your vehicle with an instructor or in your partner's car observing their tuition.

The instructors will be looking to improve your driving, be it at a novice level track experience wise or more advanced. The instructor will be helping you where you want to improve.

There are four elements to the day:

1) Performance and Dynamic Vehicle Handling - High speed 1.5 mile circuit

2) Adverse Handling - tight, twisty tarmac circuit.

3) Multi Surface Wet Grip Skid Control and Skid Circle.

4) Mixed Practice - a mixture of the above, based on driver preference.

Please see: www.driverdp.com for details.

The cost is £280 per car. For this you get the full day's event including breakfast and a sit down lunch.

We have exclusive booking on this until Friday 27th April. After that, we can still book, but so can the general public.

The days are run with a minimum of 8 & a maximum of 18 cars. Helmets are not required & there is a noise limit of 98dB static.

You are responsible for your vehicle and the venue and event does not include any cover. You may of course arrange track day type cover if you wish, but this is NOT a track day, it is driver tuition.

There is a photography option for stills and video of the day. The cost to us is basically the cost to the venue divided by however many of us attend/want the DVD. We would need to commit before hand to this. If you are interested in this, please post up and we will enquire.

If you are up for it, please contact Carolyn Barker directly on 01787 278 833. We recommend you print and complete the booking form: www.driverdp.com/dates.htm and post it with your cheque. You can also pay by debit card or visa, but visa is not preferred. You cannot get the RS246 price unless you book direct and mention RS246 for this date.

Thanks GrahamS4 for putting this forward and making most of the arrangements

Please post comments and questions here but only add your name as an attendee when you have booked & paid for your place.

This would be a great idea, but it' the day before the Croft, Autometrix track day, and although I could think of no better way of trying out what you learn HID wouldn't go for it.

Sorry next time YES...

A little slow this morning so excuse me if this question has an obvious answer!! Very interested in attending and so is the wife - do we still pay £280 per car and get paired up with another car and thus sit three up plus the instructor, or is it £280 per participating drivers? Don't want to ruin someones day by overloading their car!!

I think the observing in your "partners car" is seen as an ideal if and when there is the oppertunity and you want too. Learning wise it is better than standing around and you certainly woudn't want to be in your car all day. However it is optional as far as I know and I personally think there is only so much rolling around in the back of car being driven at high speed that one can do. I personally hope I can observe in car some of the time and at other times take a breather and hopefully there will be an event side viewing area, but this I do not know.

Clearly some cars that attend are 2 seaters and as the event offers places to non driving guests and 2 drivers in one car so you and your wife attending is not going to be unusual.

Are you wanting to bring one car or two? If two I am sure you can be paired together. Please check with the event organiser Carolyn Barker directly on 01787 278 833 however. I believe the system is 2 drivers per instructor. Hence if you will both be using the same vehicle it will work the same (in effect paired together) but your car will get more of a work out, but please check, Carolyn is very friendly and helpful. What the cost is for 2 drivers in one car I am not sure.
