Hi guys
Only had my B5 for a few days and took it on the motorway for the first time today. From about 50-60mph, flat out on-boost (doesnt matter which gear) there is a rumbling vibration from the drivetrain. My gut instinct is diff mounts or g/box mounts, but having already spent near enough £1000 on the car in the space of 5 days of ownership, I dont want to rush in and spend more money unnecessarily.
Oh and before someone gives me an earful, I have searched the forum and not really found anything concrete to go off! Am I right in thinking a gearbox brace (or 'DTS'?) may help?

Are you sure the wheels and tyres are OK for starters? The reason I ask is I had very similar symptoms when I first had mine, and was getting a severe vibration upwards of 60ish. Fortunately it was just down to the wheels needing balanced, and was something I passed back to the dealer. If you have OEM wheels, also worth checking if these are the soft type especially.

A DTS would be a worthwhile investment otherwise, but not really as a solution in this case, as it's main purpose is to minimise the shunt you feel when coming off and on power when changing gear.

Sorted - wheels were massively out of balance (god knows what the tyre fitters were thinking). Took it to ATS to have all 4 balanced properly and hey-presto, problem solved. Oh, and yes the car does have the hard wheels
