Rear screen shatter??? *mystery*

Hi guys,

Bit of a strange one.
Came home from a week away on conference to discover that my rear screen has been shattered on my rs in a strange way.

It doesn't look like someone has tried to break in and it definately didn't happen while I was driving it.

Current theories so far include: the freakishly cold and windy weather, fireworks, some council workers digging up a tree near by using heavy machinery Or maybe aliens! Lol

Will try and get pics up tomorrow before I get it replaced.

I have had an avant for the last 10 yrs and have never seen the rear window go like that maybe I am lucky but i hope you find out why

Little b'stards round our way used to flick ceramic chips (from smashed up spark plugs) at car windows which would cause them to shatter.

Cold weather and heated screen element,seen this before on the old mans motors.

Possibly... the Autoglass guy couldnt work it out too.

Well they finally came round today and was told they havent got the right glass in stock and I will have to wait until Tuesday to get it from the main dealer.

There are 3 types for the RS. One is the standard screen, the other is with a built in tv aerial and the third is with the built in aerial and GPS... apparently.

So I ordered the third

Now I just have to wait until Tuesday and then off to get it tinted.

Currently my shattered screen is wrapped in some special plastic to stop it caving in... or out.
