Anyone running 380mm MTM brakes?

Post by Skaala » Mon Oct 25, 2010 1:21 pm

I have just ordered some snowtires for my car with BBS CH 8,5x18 and I am planning either to run BBS CH Black 10x19 on summertires or 9,5x19 MTM wheels.

I want to change to the 380mm MTM brake kit before I go to the Nürburgring again :)

I know that BBS CH 10x19 will rub on the RS6 front brake setup (you need to grind slightly on the corners), and I am therefore wondering if anyone have experience with the MTM brakes. If the calipper is any bigger or smaller than the RS6 calipper.

I have been told that the 380mm MTM kit can fit under the stock "18 RS4 MKI wheels, but not to sure on the design of the BBS CH wheels.

thanks for any input

the mtm caliper is the same brembo item thats used on the rs6 and just uses a 7.5mm spacer to jack it out for the extra diameter disc.

Or you can get a replacement caliper carrier fabricated like I did so the wheels don't stick out further, ie: no need for the spacer underneath.

ok, so the MTM calipper and C5 RS6 calipper is the same?

10 x19 BBS CH ET20 will fit with the RS6 caliper with 5mm spacer and minimal grinding of the caliper bar.

Do you mind sharing how you got those wheels in 5x112? I love love those wheels with the deep concave but I thought they were only made in BMW fitment.

They are originally only for BMW, but several companies rebuild them to 5x112. One company is this company is Sweden. http://www.intera-sverige.se

I think they charge about 25.000,- SEK (Swedish Kronor) for a set of 4 wheels finished with 5x112

These wheels are from this shop:http://www.flickr.com/photos/ekkoj/sets ... 701023261/

No, sadly not yet. I have heard from one side that the OEM RS4 "18 wheels do fot, and from someone else that there is no hope at all. Some say minimum "19 with a design that allows for big brakes ex. Sportec or MTM Bimoto.

I think I will go for the 365mm B7 RS4/RS6 setup for now. If this proves to be sufficient on the Nordschleife I will stay with it, or else I will get bigger wheels and go for the 380mm setup :)

Skaala, sorry for the thread drift but do you mind telling me how the car rides and handles on those 19x10 wheels of yours? Is it worse than the stock wheels or about the same? They are slightly lighter I think so that should be a plus. Also what tyre size do you run?

I havent bought them yet, but normally I think people run 265/35/19 on stock suspention with these 10x19 wheels. Some have also managed to fit 275/35/19 but not sure if that is with stock suspention or not.
