Hi Guys.

Just wanted to see if you can point me in the right direction. I want to upgrade my current manufacture fitted RNS-D sat nav plus with tv tuner and 6 disc changer to the later RNS E unit.

Ive been looking into the forum and see that I need one out of an A6 as it will fit better than others.

However two things which i can not seem to find out is that if the Current TV tuner alongside the 6 Disc boot fitted CD changer will WORK or not with this upgrade. Please can someone help.

And also as I have the old sat nav in place do i still need to modify the wiring? If so what wiring or what adapter

Please help. Thank you!

There are other options besides the RNS-E

I had the RNS-D unit removed and fitted an Alpine AVIC F500-BT unit, had a custom facia panel made, and looked very OEM, plus much more features and functions than the RNS-E, superb sound quality, large screen, Ipod adaptor, Alpine Bluetooth etc etc

You can pick these units up really cheap now, have a loko at other options before you take the plunge, as to my knowledge the RNS-E unit doesn't work out cheap!

Alpine units are far better quality, more up-to-date and can work out much better price wise...

IMO of course!

P.S Only downside i found was you lose the DIS feature, but then this is a small price to pay for a much better option

Interested in the (Pioneer) AVIC F500BT myself. I note there's no radio, CD transport or power amp included - it's simply a head unit with USB, Navigation, iPod and Bluetooth. Did you keep the original Symphony radio/changer? Does the AVIC unit drive the existing Bose powered speakers?

Did you get a dealer to do the whole fitment? Be interested to know well it integrates with the existing Audi bits and pieces. Got a photo of the installed unit by any chance?

Many thanks - GeoffT.
