please help with newbie RS4 question

hello,

Thinking of buying my first RS4. The one i have in mind is a 2001 model with 90k on the clock for £14k. I was originally looking at an RS6 but was put off by the running/servicing costs.

It would be really helpful if anyone can give some insight into runnning/servicing costs for a RS4 ie cambelt/brakes costs.

Also is there the same problem with the shocks as there is with the RS6?

Any advice welcome and appreciated

cheers

running costs are very similar, just different areas to look out for

no DRC suspension on the RS4 B5, however no issues with cam failure on the RS6 (present on B5 RS4)

servicing and parts are approx the same, fuel consumption ditto, cambelt ditto

brakes very similar for replacement disks, pads and calipers

Deep pockets required to run an RS4 - agreed - but not necessarily much cheaper to run an S4.

Cambelt same cost to change.
Cams can also give trouble on S4s - although perhaps not noticed so much.
Brakes are cheaper on an S4.
Turbos on RS4 possibly a little more robust than on S4.
All the 10 year old car stuff is the same.

I had an S4 and moved to an RS4 as the potential bills were the same and the RS4 was more "special".

Agree with searider the RS4 is such a special car - If you can afford it... do it.

If you are worried about costs- dont buy an RS6.
