X979 PTL - goodwood green - anyone know it?

Post by s4seeker » Mon Mar 01, 2010 7:39 pm

Hi folks
i am looking at this car at the moment and have agreed prices with my A4 s line as a part ex.
Anyone know of this car or have any info on it.
It is a dealer selling so HPI etc is done and clear - also just had big service.
seems to look good from photos but thought i would see if anyone "knew" the car as I will be travelling some way to get the car.
thanks

not checked it to that extent yet.
Will be phoning the guy later in the week to arrange to go down - so can double check these things then before making tracks

dealer bought it for under 10k around a year ago, very quick sale on pistonheads from a chap who had bought an avus one instead i believe.

it was astoundingly cheap at the time, so i would be very careful to ensure all is ok by making sure you get a full healthcheck

talk to aiden / quattronutter who is a specialist from northampton who could inspect it i would have thought - he is not too far from the dealer (leicester?)

leicester - thats the one.
If i decide to go for it might see if he could go and check it out.
would be good for a bit of piece of mind.
might try sending aiden a pm and see what he would charge to go and inspect etc.
thanks again for info

dealer has had it up for sale for some time started at 15k i think and now has it on ebay and the trader at 12.5k

seems quite a good spec but the main issue is the colour as gg cars are very slow to sell it would seem

does seem like it has been about for a while.
to be honest he is putting a good value on my car as part ex - compared to book prices etc so perhaps he wants to move it on now.
it is cheap - hopefully only because of the colour and the difficulty in shifting it - i think the green is growing on me though.
or perhaps it is just the thought of owning an rs4!
thanks again

spoke to Aiden today and should be able to meet him at the car on Saturday so he can check it over.
Hoping it is all ok as it will take me 6 hours to get there!
full audi history hopefully counts for something!
fingers crossed

that also looks good value!
my problem is still having my 05 s line A4 to shift.
chucking it into the deal certainly made things easier.

must say i am keen on goodwood car though.
goodwood dealer has stated 1 year warranty also - which sounds good.

Be sure to analyse the warranty.
– Amount per claim (An RS4 isn't cheap to fix)
– Many warranty companies will only replace the item if it has actually broken or fallen apart ie Olympic Warranties!!
– Will only repair at one of their registered mechanics (most haven't got a clue when dealing with an RS4)
OR will pay a low hourly rate if you insist the car is fixed elsewhere.

Probably best to reject the warranty and ask for a reduction on the car, then purchase a warranty
from Warranty Direct.

Thanks for the advice once again guys.
i think i am able to head down the road on saturday to see car and hopefully buy.
I have noticed the dealer has reduced his price - so i have done the cheeky thing and emailed a couple of final questions re getting inspection done etc - and also suggested that our agreed price should be adjusted accordingly as he is obviously struggling with interest (hopefully because of colour).
too cheeky? what do you think?
I am hoping that inspection will be ok so my journey is not a wasted one.
