If the person selling this car is on the forum....
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1398671.htm
They may want to edit out the car entry on stolen cars page on Pistonheads..

That car is registered as cat d, the owner said it was stolen with keys in it and was left at the end of the street, it sounded like a scam to me so i didnt bother going to view.
Maybe the owner is a member and can clear this up.

Not at all surprised, I'd avoid it like the plague and I was suspicious when I first saw the ad, especially at that price.

It has just been "survested" though so it must be good!

it is weird, it was listed under a guys name, then all the emails pointed towards a sister
now the sister is the seller...
this made me wary for sure
even if cat - why all the mystery and no replies to calls or email = scam or not workth the hassle

If you look back at my post about "what's it worth" I was told that my car would be too expensive and this one was quoted as to the 'real world' price of B5s these days. Turns out that I was probably right after all as this one is dodgy.
Good good.

I don't think we quoted real world, what was said was that if your's was worth the 18K then the one listed under 14K was being sold too cheaply. As I say there is usually a good reason for it. You have to be so careful with these cars.

True, what gets my goat is the many people who post on forums after the bargain of the decade who then expcet everyone to be in a rush to sell at rock bottom.
I still believe that those owners who have sold recently have undervalued their cars by some margin. Many owners on here state that there is nothing out there worth changing for for less than 20k or so. So why not let the value of RS4s reflect this?
If you want a direct comparison (costs & trends, not performance) look at Ford RS cars. I bought an Escort Cosworth in 2000 for 15k and by the look of recent (summer) prices, it'd be worth nearly 15k now even taking my mileage into account!

I agree that there is not much else out there worth changing to (unless you want something new and diesel

)
I reckon i'd place my 68K miler on the ads for about 17.5K if I was selling and hold out for it, it's worth what someone is prepared to pay at the end of the day and you can't really make prices up. Look at what specialists like Fontain and NJ are selling their vehicles for and you can get a good idea as to what the market is doing. I hope that prices do go stronger and I think the time will come as there are fewer and fewer cars all the time, the problem is ther running costs, people buy into these cars and cannot afford to run them so panic and sell cheap usually or want out of it and that is driving the prices down. If they were cheaper to run that would do them a favour but it's supercar running costs unfortunately and that's the only down side to owning an RS.
I'd have the B7 in a flash (again) when they come down to say 20K for an average miler avant and that will replace my current one and will modernise things. Unitl then i'm sticking with my daily driver !

How come it has only had "new rear disks" what about the rear brake pads aswell, you have got to admire the person for their spelling qualities.
