What are the differences? Will the wrong ones cause damage or premature wear?

The N has a thicker diaphram so lasts longer before splitting. Split diaphrams will cause your diverter valve not to work correctly, hence your turbo spool up rate will not be as the ecu intends it....

Would this make the 710N slower to react?

No. The A and N should react the same, the P is iirc from an RS6 has has a different spring rate. You will get a slower reaction time from piston typre DV's (eg forge)

The APR R1 claims to give the best of both worlds (and sworn to by Jules) - details here : http://www.goapr.com/products/r1.html

Rather pricey, but if they truly are 'fit & forget' and also perfrom better, then perhaps a good solution.

Any issues with these on the C5 RS6?
