my rs is running cold all the time, today i went 15 mines plus driving fairly hard on and off and the temp gauge never registered anything! i have changed the waterpump, the thermostat and coolant temp sensor!
im going for a 50 mile drive with my mates snapon tool connected to log everything like vagcom, basically its using loadsa fuel and i cant make my mind up if its the maf or cool running!

Could be the instrument cluster... or no coolant!
When I had my CTS replaced some of the wiring needed replacing as well, so maybe worth looking into that first. Guess the Snap-On tool should show you if there are still issues with it.

Try using an infrared thermometer on the rad and pipes to see if it is actually getting hot.
It would eliminate the mechanical parts. Mine is running cold 80 - 85 ish and using what looks like a bit more fuel. Pretty sure mine is the stat, comes up to temp when stationary and cools down on a run.
Planning on doing it over Christmas..
Best of luck with yours and keep us posted.

Run an output with VAG COM on the gauge to see if it moves, that's all I can suggest.

You can put the air con into some measurement mode to check coolant temp IIRC.
Let me have a search and see what I can find.
Mine is the same as yours DR! Using sligtly more fuel and gets up to 75 deg c. Annoys me and might get it done ASAP. Hopefull WD will cover it.

Mines is doing the same, seems if I'm in slow traffic (stop\start) it creeps upto 90, but if on a 60mph + cruise on the motorway the temp needle drops back down nearer the 60 mark.
From what I can gather, the main culprit is the thermostat, which I'm not sure was replaced at the last cambelt service.

Bloody annoying ain't it. I don't know whether to get mine done now or wait til next cambelt in another 13K! I might call WD up and see if it's covered and get them to foot the bill. I believe it's possible to do without removing the cam belt etc...

It ain't
I wouldn't be surprised if WD cover the cost of the thermostat only - so £10 of a £700 bill.
