Just given my RS4 an early Christmas and also paid the local Audi dealers chrsitmas party... ouch!!!

When the car went in I knew the rear exhaust bracket was missing and they also mentioned it as part of their standard health check. I ask the cost of replacing and they have advised me I would need to get a complete exhaust, which is close to £500.

I know this is a common problem... is there any other alternative solutions?

The exhaust is secure at the moment so doesn't need doing just yet!!

Why replace it if its secure!!

Get a replacement bracket welded on for beer tokens at any competent garage.

Ideally I don't want to replace it and won't until such time as it needs to be done. I was really wondering whether there was a way of fitting a bracket to secure it better and try and prolong the time before I need to do it - Cheers.

Mine has been welded twice now - seems ok - are you sure someone competent with a welder could make up a new bracket and fix it?

Your car had a Remus cat back system on it when it first arrived at NJ, but he took it off to put on another car because a buyer liked the sound of it so much. Wonder if that's the reason the bracket is missing. I am sending you that PM now BTW.

If you have an exhaust specialist near by they will do it for about 15 notes. I use a company called tube torque near macclesfield. It onlt takes 5 mins. Easy job.

I used to use tube torque about 10 years ago,but started to have a few issue's,i now use jp exhaust's in macc who are excellent with it comes to stainless steel exhaust's

Hi jules, thats exactly what I did. I couldnt remember the name for jp exhausts. infact I dont know if tube torque are still going. Jp are a good set up though.

Got my original one welded for about £15, as it caused an MOT failure.

Someone either here or on SRS was selling an exhaust for about £50 very recently.

Thanks for your comments... I know alot of you have changed your exhausts and I was wondering if by chance any of you had a rear exhaust bracket that you didn't need?

Audi have said that I need to replace the whole thing and cannot just get the bracket!!!

Take it to an exhaust specialist mate,hey will have brackets already to fit.

Ah right, as simple as that!!!

Take the mounting off the back of the gearbox so nothing dangling down, never failed at the MOT as exhaust was secure.
