anyone no where i can buy a good short shifter for my b5 rs4 in the uk thats got in stock ? as car is having new clutch fitted next week so would be a good time to fit

There is a group buy on ESP short shifters over on AudiSRS at the moment.
The short shifter is fitted entirely inside the cabin, so there's no benefit to doing it at the same time as the clutch. It's an easy install as well.

there is a thraed in the b5 section called esp group buy
add your name in there if you want the shifter for 50quid but who knows how long this could take.
otherwise you can ring esp engineering (type in google) directly and they could supply one if they have one in stock i think for around 100ish - but mention your a member and theres a group buy maybe they can sort something ouot
