Strange but true. :?

I had a little lateral movement on my drivers seat so decided to investigate the problem. It transpires that a small plastic clip that acts a 'guide runner' when moving the seat had come off. I've replaced it and the seat works perfectly.

HOWEVER: I now have the engine warning light appear on the dash, which makes me think its something to do with me unplugging the electircs for the seat, however I'm not sure?

Anyone know anything...

Bit of a long shot but way back in the 90's I had a recalcitrant Vauxhall Calibra Turbo from new that, in its latter years (and there were only 3 of them) suffered from a complete engine shutdown from time to time- sometimes in the outside lane of the autobahn at 100mph+. Always managed to pull in, wait 5-10 minutes then it would restart no worries til the next time. Exhaustive investigations always turned up nothing as it was intermittent- have the electrics overhauled, ignition, black boxes up the ying yang. Spoke to a friend who had had the same problem with his Carlton, he got really frustrated and it ultimately resulted in him handing it over to the dealer and driving off in a Corsa which he swapped directly for it!
Long story short- it turned out that the emergency fuel cut-off gubbins is located in the back of the seat runner and it was faulty and intermittently cutting off the fuel supply- by waiting a few minutes the switch sorted itself out and the engine started til the next time. Had the stealer replace mine and it never happened again- although I sold it pretty sharpish for my first A4.....
Any wires been dislodged or anything unusual at the back of your seat rail?.....

Thanks RSMONKEY.

I think by diconnecting the seat, it may in someway throw a fault code and it needs VAGCOM to reset it. However I am not certain and by no means an expert on the finer workings of these fantastic cars.

is it the airbag warning light? if it is it just will need a vag come reset as the you will most likely have upset the seat belt pre tensioner or seat mounted air bag. this can happen if you adjust the seat too quickly too!

You need to disconnect the battery before unplugging seats / airbags etc and then you wont get a fault code.
Clear fault codes and you should be ok.
