MOT Jobsworth

Just went and had the car MOT'D earlier today. In Northern Ireland for those that dont know we have to go to an approved testing centre which there are about 7 dotted across the country. My MOT was due at the start of next month and could get a date to suit in Belfast before then. I went to one a few miles away this afternoon and was left waiting outside well after the appointment time. When I did get in the examiner had a personality of a brick (Unkind to a brick) and saw no other cars in the testing centre so I thought this was going to be great I will be in and out in about 10 mins. How wrong I was filler cap was checked and he even took it off and started smelling the tank which I thought was strange. Then some <beep> from the other side started shouting to get the examiners attention. I couldnt see or hear what he wanted but I saw the examiner nodding his head and giving him a thumbs up. At this point I was starting to get paranoid especially as I thought my number plates and a chip on my windscreen might fail me. The next thing he brings out the device for measuring the tint on the glass. I shouted over to him that the front windows are Audi standard which he replied that they look too dark for the car. I pointed out that the rears had been done but only the rears. Needless to say he went on about how it was illegal to have the front windows done and I again told him thet they were not. Needless to say he carried on and informed me that they were boarderline and I asked him what would have happend if they had not passed. He informed me that the car would have failed the MOT and I would have to get them replaced which I laughed at, however this obviously annoyed him because when he put my car up on the ramp he looked at every piece of tread on my tyres and every nook and cranny obviously to find fault with the car which he didnt. 45 minutes later I was issued with a new MOT for another 12 months.
