Just looking for honest opinions as I'm in a bit of a torn situation here and a few level heads might make me see the light. After having owned a PD150 Seat Leon for about 18 months, I took the plunge and bought a B5 RS4 at the beginning of July as I'd always wanted one. Am no stranger to the 2.7 V6 TT engine as I had a B5 S4 before buying the Leon. Had thought at the time it wasnt a great idea buying it but went ahead and did so. Morning of the day I picked it up, I got a flat in the Leon and the day i picked up the car, the alternator packed up on the way home and made me think "this was a bad idea". As I do quite a bit of travel abroad with my job, I used that excuse to offset the running costs of the thing. So the car was parked up while I was away travelling for 3 weeks and on my return decided to tackle the alternator replacement.
However, during that week (last week of July), I had to return to Ireland after my youngest brother was tragically killed in a truck crash in Italy. Since then my mind is upside down completely and cant think straight. Currently have the Leon for sale for past 2 months with no sign of it moving anytime soon and on top of it, just after I returned from being at home, I've been contemplating selling the RS4 again as I'm worried I won't be able to look after it now and not sure if I'm ready for forking out big bucks for running and maintenance on it. I do love the car and it gives me a huge grin everytime I drive the damn thing but I feel I've lost interest after all thats happened and the paranoia thats set in on reading of all the camshafts failures etc. Its a bit of a shock too to the pocket coming from 50mpg back down to less than half that!
In the few weeks I've been driving it, its been fantastic, always looking for an excuse to go somewhere in it. It does need a few small bits tidied up, which I had planned to do over the next few months.
My head tells me sell them both and buy something more practical but my heart says keep the RS4. I've been contmplating a B6 A4 2.5 TDi Quattro but I'm not sure either. I tend to get bored of cars after about 18 months to 2 years and have to move them on again.
What would you do in this situation, having 2 cars, one for sale as just recently bought something I always wanted but now considering selling that also in favour of a more practical car as I fear I wont have the full interest and strength to look after the RS4 the way it should be done.
Any sound advice would be appreciated as I plan to advertise the car this weekend after only about 2 and half months of ownership...
Thanks, Tom
