Folks, I was sitting watching TV about 10pm when I heard a loud bang from outside. I looked out the window and saw hoodie running down the street. Went out and had a look and found my drivers side mirror hanging beside the door. Talk about pissed off!
My question is I see Contigo had his stolen earlier this year and he has atwo pics on page 2. The second pic is whats lefts of mine. Can this balck plastic bit be replaced or is it the whole wing mirror?
The link is:

Any help appreciated
Paul

Hi, the black plastic bit forms part of the whole wing mirror motor and the aluminium casing simply sits on top of it. I think a new one is around £100 from Audi but its not hard to fit, you can pry the glass out by pushing it all the way to the top and then using a screwdriver. It will all make sense from there. Sorry to hear about what happened and you get it sorted soon.

Thanks Amar, Thats a relief that I can do that. Will make a few phonecalls in the morning.
I will probably not sleep tonight as I will jump up at the slightest noise I hear through the night!

I lost one of mine, to a farmer yesterday afternoon! Drivers side snapped clean off. Obviously the driver did not stop and on closer inspection the door is dinted and has a very visable scuff.
So to clairify as the aluminium casing is still servicable can I put this in the internals of a standard B5 A4 post 1999 facelift miror? Thanks for any advice.

Yes, the window internals are the same as any facelift A4/S4. You might just need to check that the ones you replace with have heated mirrors, etc.

£409!? Gosh, only a few months ago I had to replace one on an S6 and it was about £100. I also brought one from a C5 A6 for £40 to try and fit it but the aluminuim casing didn't fit perfect, it went on and did the trick but just wasn't 100% and moved about a lot so I wasn't happy with it. You are welcome to that if it helps as its just lying around doing nothing. Just depends how fussy you are I suppose.

Hi Amar, Thanks for the offer but I got offered a set of Avus painted mirrors a complete set that I jumped at. Still I didnt have to sort this out in the first place. I now have to look at mabye putting a new garage up at the house as the one I have is not big enough to hold the RS4 plus there is so much crap out there I would need to find the extra space.

Glad you got it sorted, you should be able to sell your old aluminuim mirror caps to get some money back too.

Two weeks to the day and the f%%%ers are back. Since my wing mirror was kicked off I discovered that another vehicle was involved. My neighbour is just after informing me that he saw the vehicle in question and its occupants pointing where my car is parked. My neighbour is away at the minute and he is letting me park my car at his place as its concealed (or so I thought) Probably wont get much sleep tonight but if they make a return here tonight I will have a nice surprise waiting for them!
What a lovely decent society we live in, just pisses me off

Totally hate these parasites of society! Send them all to the darkest part of Siberia and leave them there!!

should be a good time to set the police on scum bags like this. Especially with that terrible story of the mother and her disabled daughter committing suicide because of ASBO scummers

Hi Paul
I hope you got through the night with no issues, and it was just some people admireing your car,but in todays society probably not.
Just be careful if you do catch them, you'd only be in the wrong whatever happened. My belief is if someone try's to take something from you they deserve whats coming, shame the law doesn't see it like this

Hi all, Thanks for the comments. No problems last night but I think I am going mad. Never had this problem with a car before and I am afraid of my actions if these sh%ts come back.
Plenty of measures in place but one they will not expect.
I should invest in some of South Africas anti car theft devices they are cool!
