Whatever you do, don't crash, apparently it's expensive and they don't let you home till you fix things....

Go when Doug is going :) Just in case you have any problems with your car. He's going in a couple of weeks actually.

And yes - don't crash. VERY expensive as you will have no insurance.....

Phone MORIS before you go.

Buy a CG lock if you have leather.

Keep an eye on the oil temp gauge if you're planning on doing multiple laps without coming off in between.

Be VERY careful if its raining or looks like it might be about to rain or has just rained. 12 miles is a long way and the bit of track you're on could be dry but the bit over that next crest........

Sort your insurance. Many people think that they can chance it....just as most people do on trackdays but this is a public road. If your insurance excludes the 'ring (e.g. doesn't cover "derestricted toll roads", etc then you'll find yourself driving illegally and hence at risk of the German Police having a chat....and worst still it you cause an accident with big costs and claims.

Apart from that, learn it slowing, brake in straight lines only and STAY OFF THE KERBS especially in the rain.

p.s. Don't try and beat any times!!

as above...

just go and have some fun but watch your rear mirrors more than you normally would do.... cars come up behind you at one hell of a rate of knots.

remember... mirror... signal... maneuver!

come back with some great memories and phots please.

Agreed, like any track day just learn the apex with some nice steady laps and then try to increase your next lap speed.

As said, don't try and break any records as there will always be someone who is better and faster than you at this.

I'd love to do the ring but I know I'd get frustrated with it as it's so damn hard to remember every corner and every single apex.

get some practice on the playstation so you get a rough idea what comes up next corner.

I did it in a new diesel cabrio 2 laps for me and 2 for Helen... 4 laps took us long enough to run around safely ...good laugh though and all we passed was a shagged Vauxhall type thingy!

regardless of speed you wont be frustrated by the track...you will be too busy looking ALL around you.

Looking forward to possibly going next year when we go to Ingolstadt for the 30th anniversary of the Ur quattro.

That's why they mark them with blobs of paint.

p.s. Don't mistake the marked bike turn in points for the car ones which are a little earlier!
