Post by craig1 » Mon Jul 27, 2009 10:11 pm

hi all just lookin to buy my first rs4 b5. should i stay clear of cars with 100k plus or are they worth a look as you can pick some up at a good price. any advice would be appreciated. i understand i need to look for other issues such as cam wear, clutch, timing belt changes and so on.

So long as it's been well maintained by a specialist, then should be fine, surely...?

got ours with 89k miles on it 2 years ago... its now up to 120k miles and recently had its timing belt and ancillaries done by Grizz @ Unit 20.

no worries up here:)

give it regular oil changes with the correct oil and dont get on the AVS scheme either and you should have a good reliable engine. treat it like its yours and not stolen and you will have a smile on your face for years to come.... see Davey's comment above.

echo the comments made above, check for history of regular maintenance etc. as long as you maintain the up keep on the car then all should be well.

mines just clocked onto 117k now, and i've had it since 70k now. It gets driven less now, but even so 5k oil changes and full service at least every 10k miles and so far so good. Most of the car is new now having replaced most of it now, so just waiting for the turbos to go pop but not sure when that will be!
