Leather or Hi-tech - What's the preference...?

Post by Imax » Sat Jul 25, 2009 6:06 pm

Further to my other thread regarding an RS4 I'm due to get in which appears to have had a swapped interior, I thought it would be interesting to see what the preferred RS4 interior from other owners and why...

I've got the Hi-tech and think it's great TBH. Had silver Nappa in my last S4 which was very very nice, but it does get a bit uncomfortable in the summer...

Had the Hi Tech for a month now and it seems good.

I was worried that the hi tech might not be as child proof as full leather but seems ok so far.

Feels a bit cooler in the hot weather as well.

Breaks up the "blackness" of the interior.

Ive got high tech and had a couple of people with full leather asking to swap.

I think its very hard wearing also.

More cars have full leather so presumably leather is the most popular

I actually think the peeps that buy these type of cars new think they 'have' to buy full leather or they'll be seen to be tight wads.

Why buy a £40-odd-k car and not get full leather?! Personally I don't think it under-values the car at all having half leather.

I have had both and i prefer the high tech, cooler in hot weather, not slippery, dosn't go saggy.
I also had somone wanting to swap full leather for my high tech at Castle Coombe yesterday.

When i was looking to buy my RS4, i didn't bother reading the ad's once i spotted Hi-tech on the spec so it must knock resale values.

How do you work that out, it is personal choice nothing to do with value.

Dont believe it will affect the car's value, especially if it was a no cost option when new. As you have read, alot people actually want it more than full leather, so arguably having Hi-tec instead of leather actually increases it's value !!

because its probably not just me that wouldn't want cloth in an RS4. Its certainly effects BMW's, Jag's and Merc's as any buyers guide will tell you.
