just recently its been getting really bad fuel economy i works out bout 15 miles for a tenner i know its never going to be cheap to fuel but really that bad?!
i had a look around and no smell or sign of fuel!
i did notice that today even tho the heaters were on when i opened the bonnet the ac pipes were wet and freezing? i assumed the aircon only ran when it was cooling the car but not warming it? i know i can turn it off with econ button before u say!
i heard the lambdas are prone to going but im sure mine were done before i got it! im gonna go out with the diagnostics machine later see what to do!!

That's mad!!! Does the car get up to temperature after say 5 minutes? I know these cars tend to drink more if the thermostat is iffy or stuck. Mine did the same in cold weather but now it's warmed up the car runs at normal temp and the MPG is far better.

Do you commute via the Nurnurgring???
Something's wrong - that's around 7.5mpg!
Mine used to do 50 miles to a tenner - most of that was on the motorway, and I wasn't driving like miss daisy!
What foes your DIS average MPG say? Maybe reset it and look at the average for a couple of journies.

Your ECU must be dumping loads of extra fuel in due to a dodgy reading from one of your sensors. Could be EGT, Lambda or MAF to cause this though. Confident your diagnostic tool will reveal the source of the problem.

As for the aircon always being on, is there a chance the compressor clutch is seized? That wouldn't account for the MPG, but might be contributing to it.

diagnostics showed it was fault free but i think i have found the problem i was driving along and my water temp gauge dropped to nothing! now im thinking its quite likely the dash and ecu share the same coolant temp feed and if the ecu thinks the cars cold it will run rich as buggery!

I had this on mine. Easy enough fix and cost <£20. Fingers crossed for a simple fix.
