Had my RS4 for a couple of months now. The ESP seems to kick in even when overtaking in a straight line. Don't think this is normal. Had all wheel speed sensors checked and they're fine. Starting to get annoying now. Any ideas??

Yeah all the tyres are the same. Rich , yes it's when you pull out of traffic on an overtake. I expected it when in 2nd or even 3rd as they struggle to put the power down but it's happening in 4th!! Cut's in quite abruptly. Thought maybe I was giving it too much right foot but maybe I just need to get used to it.. or switch it off!!

Could be a broken, dirty or mis-aligned ABS sensor ring too - quite common.

Something not right there Craig mine will only do it in the early gears and is running more power, spirited drives do need it to be turned off though even my b7 gets upset and needs to be turned off, audi esp is over sensitive at best as is the abs on b5s

Mine does exact same!
Im trying to find out if there is some component that could be adjusted/changed/ whatever in the ESP controller ( wherever that might be!)

My car did it in second and third gear when putting the gas on. The tyres were only slightly more worn on the fron than the rears so I changed the front tyres and the issue stopped for me. This was after having my ABS checked and cleaned.
Hope this helps

My rear tyres have more tread than the fronts. Do you think it's worth swapping them around??

Maybe it's the quality of the tyres you are using? When I first had my RS4 I had this trouble, changed the tyres for Michelin PS2s and the problem has never come back.
