Had another encounter with my friend's E92 M3...

Post by Sql_RS4 » Fri Jun 26, 2009 11:35 pm

We had two rolling start runs, from second gear at around 3800-4000 rpm in my car....

And my old lady once again prooved it can go :)

First I managed to get away around 1.5 lengths, second time we had to stop as there was some traffic but still managed to get away at least one length in 2 gears...

Quite amusing to know that a 9 year old Avant can still be faster than some current hi-tec fully electronic, carbon fiber roofed, LED fitted toys :)

We will try to shoot some videos next week!

I had the enjoyable task of 'putting into place' an E46 cab few days back in London, was behind him at the lights and before us was a lovely private road. However, it wasn't needed as by the time I had changed into 2nd gear and was readying myself for third - the M3 appeared to be going backwards most satisfying! :)

Done this with a modded B7 and there was nothing in it. both rolling starts in 2nd gear from 40mph and right round to 140 both times, I'd say I pulled a car length both times on him.

I'd eat an M3 too :D

My car is standard, and neither Porka Cayman S's nor a Bently Continental GT have gotten away from me...
Porka's Cayman's, I have to take it easy and find myself backing off too often!
I particularly like accepting the challenge from bikes... in a safe manner of course.

Believe me Marcus, the Continental GT wasn't trying :)

Somebody asked earlier - my car is only chipped.

Like I said, lots of fun to see newest M3 behind.

Also tried with my friend's B7 RS4 with all possible gadgets like full exhaust, gruppe-M intake, chip etc - B7 did not have a chance against B5.

Really need to make sure we get some videos.

As for Conti GT, had only one encounter and it was not a full race but that beast seemed really fast! Possibly a lot faster at higher speeds than my B5.

Well the chip must be better than one of our tuners like MRC or MTM as mine would pull a car length on a modded B7 but not "not have a chance"

the B7 you raced could have had the same problems they have been having with exhaust flaps etc not giving the correct rush at 5.5K as the B7 is a quick car.

Good evening- might just be worth mentioning the power to weight ratios- with a claimed 460bhp, mines making 287.5bhp per tonne (1600kgs) and a specific output of 170bhp per litre- had a quick look in the back of EVO and there are many supposed supercars that don't come close to these figures.
The advantage of being made 10 years ago is that many cars have piled on the pounds in the interim with extra kit and tranglements, and to make big power they've all gone up a league to V8's/10's= more weight- as opposed to a relatively lightweight twicely blown V6 that can put all its power down through four wheels. Our cars are pretty unique in many ways, and I for one salute the barking logic behind them.....

Just a thought :D

Cheers
Steve
