TV Tuner

Hi folks
Managed to get a replacement Tuner from fleabay recently (my TV has never worked since I got the car) and whilst in at the stealers for a basic service yesterday I asked them to change it for me as I was advised you have to watch you don't break connectors when removing.
Anyway, whilst I now have a TV screen showing channels etc, it can't find a picture. Any suggestions what could be done to remedy this, or is there some other sort of setting up I need to do?
Thanks!

Are you in a good reception area, the biggest problem with "in car" tv's is the signal reception. I assume you are trying it outside your house, do you need a big aerial to get reception in the house? can you use those little indoor aerials?
Can you drive to a known good reception area and do a new channel search?

Slightly OT question, does the TV Tuner do digital TV or just analogue?

My mate has a S6 of same vintage with same system and he gets a reception in this area. (Central Scotland) between Glasgow and Edinburgh. So it shoudn't be that?!!

Just assuming Topbear that it's analogue, don't think it would be digital from 9 years ago, but that's just my guess.

I've heard that it's the connections to the diversity amps that break, not the ones to the tv tuner itself?

Thanks very much Nige, I'll have a look into that one!
Can you please tell me where they are and how to check them?
Thanks again to all, keep the suggestions coming!

Stupid question - but why was the one on sale on ebay in the first place - is there any proof that it worked in the first place

As with a lot of this type of equipment on fleabay, it comes from Hungary I think. Breakers yards I think. This guy was a power seller with 100% feedback and a guarantee that all equipment worked (I know).
A new one from Audi is £500, so at £100, I thought it was a worthwhile gamble.
But this is at least giving me the TV function which I didn't previously have, just proving a struggle to get a picture on it!

Norrs2,
I have just replaced the diversity swith in my car (Its the small box with all the cables going into it that sits abov the GPS unit in the boot)
The reason I replaced mine is that I was getting a bit of static on my AM radio reception so if you do require one let me know. I looked on fleabay for one and couldnt find one and ended up paying £111 at the stealers!

Might be a silly question, but have you set the TV system to PAL 'I' for the UK?

Not a silly question at all, because I don't have a clue what you mean! There's every chance it hasn't been done, it was after all installed by the stealer!!

Have you got the manual? Every country has it's own TV system. PAL I in the UK, SECAM in France, NTSC in the states. If your tuner is set to anything but PAL I then it won't pick up any stations properly.
I can't remember off hand how to do this. Use the mode button on the right and the knob wheel to get to the set up and select PAL I.
If you can't work it out, I can find the relevant bit in the manual. let me know.
EDIT: I'm assuming you're on RNS-D
Also, if it turns out you can't get TV, no great loss, they'll be turning off anologue broadcasts soonish. At least with the TV tuner you now get 2 AV inputs that you can use for pretty much anything (digital tuner, DVD, etc).

Think someone will be offering digital conversions then? ie same as your home tv's digibox.
