Tell me about 600hp RS4s, esp. Lucas' one

Been watching Doug's videos on Youtube.

There's a few vids of 600hp RS4s...

One doing 202mph with 3 people in the car :shock:

Do they all run RS6 turbos?

I know they all need big fuel pump and injectors, FMIC, downpipe and cats...but are they all on standard 'internals'?

550hp seems the max for standard 'internals' S4, is 650hp a reasonable prospect for standard 'internals' RS4?

I wonder what the life expectancy of these huge power engines will be though.

I just can't see how they will last being pushed as hard as they will, and probably on quite a regular basis, given the purpose of these projects.

Didn't Viperbl fubar the turbo's on his last motor when he hit a corner too hard and the blades of the turbo went into the casing?

If this is the same guy then fair play to him for going for something even more mental, He must have mental amounts of cash to be able to spunk it on mods like these. Surely it would buy something like a B7 RS?

It would be interesting to see the rolling road graphs for these big power cars (Doug, Lucas etc), how do they deal with the turbo lag?

Stock internals are good for up to 600bhp anything above would need rods for safety. It is really more about torque, this is what causes problems and a proper kkk turbo car will produce a lot of that.

The bar is a lot higher than people think. It's the guys running bigger than 650cc injectors, modified fuel rails and multiple fuel pumps. Any thing less than that and you're not going to push past 650bhp.

580-600bhp is a good setup for the RS4 without having to upgrade the internals.

I'll look out graphs for mine and some of the 580-600bhp RS4s we have done. We wouldn't recommend putting anything bigger than a K04 on a 2.7 if you are worried about lag.

I've dug out an earlier post from ZeroK66 re: circa 600hp.

You need the custom exhaust on that stage of tune i.e. rs6 turbos. Even the miltek dual will hold it back.

Is an aftermarket clutch needed at 500hp+? 600hp?

Jimbo, if memory serves, your car was remapped to run 20-22 psi at redline, yet on your graphs I can just see it going under 1.4 bar above 5500 RPM... so that could explain your low power numbers...on the other hand, I have a few dyno sheets of cars that did in the 600s on RS6 turbos, and not just one...

Please share...

Also is the clutch up to the job? What does Lucas' car or other 500hp+ cars have transmission-wise?
