£490.85 quote for Audi Dealer service...

I've just been quoted £490.85 for a sevice on my 60k mile RS4 at Five Oaks Audi. Sounds pretty steep to me.

I know I could get the price down using an independant but I'd like to keep the service book Audi stamped.

What has anyone else paid in the last year or so?

I have used Five Oaks Audi several times as my office is only a few miles from them, they are very pleasant and helpful but you pay for the Audi badge.

I too wanted to keep Audi service schedule but when my car reached 100k I swapped to QST in Haywards Heath, the prices are much better and as friend of my said "and you think Audi employ the best technicians do you?"

In Truth if you go to a good specialist of the RS Audis you get a better service at a lesser cost.

I have to agree - they are friendly and helpful. I'm about 15 miles from them and they'll happily collect the car and leave me a courtesy car plus they always clean the car well.

£490 just seems a bit rich for a standard service - probably includes £200 of oil!

That will be why you are paying £490 instead of £250! The joys of driving an Audi A2 ;) must be to much for you to resist.

No, wouldn't be seen dead in an A2  I have my Smart Car for when I'm feeling really thrifty and am happy for everyone to overtake me!

Just received another quote, this time from Worthing Audi.

Hmmm, not impressed - firstly they think a 2001 RS4 has a 4.2 engine producing 344PS (obviously getting confused with an S4), doh. Then they quote me £643.72 for a service!!! :bash:

QST it is then. Just spoken to Kim and he's quoted me £170.27 +VAT for a 60k service. No brainer really

Same as mine, I went to an independent for my 60k only a month ago and paid 140 notes for Oil, filters and health check, ligh alignment etc. and was quoted 500 notes from my local stealer.

Once these cars get over a certain mileage it's best to take them to an independent specialist and have them looked after properly.

Just add my two 'penneth to the independant camp- much better option on both cost and attention to detail- mine went to MRC and I got the usual bargain, info download and top class sandwiches at lunch time- going back for remedial work in a month or so- rear diff seals are weeping and the CV boots need replacing although not yet gone.
Hows that Smart car working out for you Ash? Lol.

Cheers
Steve

Sandwiches!! Now that's what I call service.

I only use the Smart for short local journeys where the RS4 wouldn't even get up to temp but it's got it's pros and cons - brilliant when spaces are small but pretty crap the rest of the time. I wouldn't mind the slow witted gearbox or the 0-60 time of a few days but the handling is just woeful! It really doesn't do corners. Far more leg room than other superminis though. I think I spend more on petrol on my lawnmower than the Smart , which is nice.

Just in case I wasn't already convinced a good independant service wasn't the way to go... I just received a quote back from Crawley Audi for a 60k mile service:

'If your car is a Automatic the cost will be £646.56
If your car is manual the cost will be £608.61
These all include spark plugs and air filters as they are both due at 60k miles'

Doh :bash: No, it isn't an automatic

Does it handle OK then?

That is shocking!

A Bosch wiper blade should be half that, i've never seen fuel system cleaner being used as part of a service before (and haven't read about anyone needing to use these on the 2.7T) and how can they possibly justify £260 for just the labour costs? All that work should take no more than an hour.
