need to program new key fob and dont want to go to the dealer and pay 200 bucks. if i recall the b5 s4 keys can be programmed without the use of a vag com or any of the dealerships programming methods.

I've heard these rumours but never been able to crack it myself.
I don't think they are as hard to code as later cars but you still need to get the SKC (key code) which can be extracted with another device and then entered with VAG COM.
It doesn't need hooking up to a secure connection with Germany like a B6.

I thought you needed to use a Vag-tacho cable to find your keycode? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vag-tacho-2-5-mil ... tsupported

I've never been able to get this to work... and I have tried several times with similar software packages... mine is a late 2001 car though, but doubt that makes a difference.
If anyone has any other ideas please let me know, new keys and blanks are easy to get and a darn site cheaper than VAG's £120 (including programming)

I doubt you'll be able to do this unless you have a 7 digit SKC, with the relevant date, importer code, and dealer no, so you can input all this into vAG-COM.

Or otherwise its a trip to the dealers as you say.

Although there is this VAG-IMMO out there, thats supposed to do the job without a 7 digit SKC....
