Looking for a bit of advise guys, I had my B5 in the garage getting a Parrot hands free kit fitted last week and when it went in the radio was perfect, always picking up a great reception. The Parrot kit never worked as the company could not find the Stereo amp and removed the kit. All put back in as normal, aerial plug fitted in the back of the stereo and now its not picking up anything at all ??
If I pull out the aerial plug and put a metal object in the back of the stereo aerial jack it picks up a reception ??
Surely even if the areial pre-amp was gone it would pick up a slight reception with the plug in ??
Any advise welcome - Thanks

I had a similar loss of radio reception. Turned out to be a broken connection in the diversity unit which I managed to resolder. Now the diversity unit is a small box mounted on top of the CD changer chassis. Other stuff goes in there too, depending on spec (like TV) and splits/feeds ariel signal to Sat Nav, Radion, etc.
Now, did they fiddle in this area when the fitted your Parrot?
Hope it helps, ... Paul.

Thanks Paul, I checked out the diversity unit after checking previous posts - all looks ok, and re-soldered the connection just in-case - still no better...
It might be the aerial amp but not sure where that is ???
Thanks

Sounds like it's more likely to be a bad earth / or power getting to the aerial. It could be a coincidence, but if they happened to pull the loom they could have dislodged the diveristy amp - Check for power to the unit above the CD changer (the diversity antenna module) - Check fuses, and lastly try your test of the wire coat hanger plugged into the aerial module on the roof... All aid to problem determination.
Good luck..

Hi guys, haven't posted for a while but noticed this one and wondered if anyone knows why my radio reception with the ignition on is fine but as soon as I turn it off but leave the key in the ignition I lose the reception almost entirely- almost as if the signal is only boosted when the ignition is 'on'- any explanation or may it be related this existing post?
Cheers
Steve

Guys, still scratching my head at this one....After many months I decided to have another look at sorting the radio reception...Bought a replacement Diversity unit and its still the same...No radio FM or AM reception as at all ??
If I pull out the stereo and gently place a screwdriver against the stereo aerial jack it picks up reception perfectly so it must be something from the cable to the aerial on the roof ?? Is there a pre-amp before the diversity unit ? Or after ?
All fuses and, I think all earth straps ok, well as many as I can see....Any other ideas as to what I could try ??
Any advice welcomed !!
