Clutch Problem

I have what I think is a slipping clutch, it has some strange symptoms though.
For instance it follows the normal worn clutch diagnoses of slipping in high gear say 5th or 6th and when accelerating hard, revs rise about 1000 but then without backing off it bites back in and pulls hard without slipping again, until you do back off and do it all again.

Most clutch slips I have experienced in other cars continue to slip once they start until you throttle back.

If cruise is engaged and I manually accelerate it will also dis-engage cruise control, I am presuming this is a safety feature where engine revs do not match engine speed Vs Gear/Road speed expectations.

Any ideas??

sounds like it needs a clutch to me,maybe the friction plate is contaminated with oil or brake fluid or even coolant and whenn some slip occurs it burns it then grips again ?,you wont know till you get the box out,stop driving it though before your flywheel is fecked,cruise will dissengage when you accelerate with the pedal or brake

My cruise doesn't disengage when I manually accelerate - when I drop to the set speed, it holds it again.
Mine only disengages when I either brake, cancel it using the lever, or drop my clutch.

So does mine!

@gezzerS4:-
I had to replace the Clutch in mine last year. I quickly changed down to third one day with a fully loaded car to overtake and the revs just rised dramatically with no forward momentum and when I backed off the throttle all was normal after that. (I know your's is behaving slighlty different but still seems intermittent like mine) I tried inducing it when I was on my own a couple of times and it wouldn't do it. TBH I was frightened to try too much incase I completely fooked it. Just took it to Audi stealer shortly after and got the Clutch changed - no problem since. Sounds like you could have a similar problem! :cry:
