Useful B5 Reference Documents
Useful B5 Reference Documents
Over my last year or so of B5 ownership, I've built up a collection of reference documents that help me understand the car, engine, Vag Com, etc.
I've put them up here for others to reference should it help: http://www.mylife98.plus.com/Audi_A4_B5_97-2000/
So far they include:
2.7TT Self-study Technical Training
Very good document. General breakdown of the engine, cooling, charging, exhaust, sensors, major components, some really good engine diagrams with where to find parts like the N75 and N249, etc. A good starting point for understanding how the V6 TT engine works.
Engine Part Numbers and Diagrams
I use this mainly to understand the parts my garage is swapping in and out by the part numbers they give me. Also very useful for the simpler things that I can do myself when I need to know what part number I'm after.
Central Locking Alarm wiring
More than I will ever need to know (hopefully!) about how the locks, alarm, sensors etc are electrically wired.
RS4 Training Guide
An Audi self-study guide that specifically deals with the differences the RS4 has over the S4. This has some useful stuff in but is quite high-level. Think this is is the Docs section of rs246 already.
Workshop guides
I guess these are my bibles. Certainly haven't read them all but particularly useful ones I've found so far are:
Central Locking OBD coding
Engine Mechanical Guides (All Engines in the B5)
But there are many others, all of which seem to explain what VAGCOM codes/banks to read, what the tolerances should be, how to test and diagnose problems etc.
If anyone else has other docs like these then I'd a) be really interested in having a copy for my own knowledge and b) happy to add them to the collection here if you're happy for me to do so.
Cheers!
Matt

Hmmm, I'm very sorry!
I never normally use the free bits of webspace I get with ISPs - usualy just put things on my own webservers. But thought this would be a good random use of bit of free space!
Lesson learned!
I'll rejig the docs over to my servers tonight/tomorrow and report links.
Sorry about that!

Ok, my apologies to all who have been waiting. I didn't realise how popular these would be for download. Apparently the space I was using had a 500mb bandwidth which we seemed to hit in... a day?
All files, plus a few new additions, are now on my servers. I have 10Gb bandwidth set-up on this domain and can up it if need be, so hopefully that'll keep us going for a while.

Happy bedtime reading!
Like I said originally, if anyone else has other contributions, I'd appreciate
